Just in case you felt you haven't heard enough about how Nintendo has way more money than you do, let it be known that Wiis now cost 45% less to manufacture than they did at launch, meaning that the Big N is raking in more cash than ever before. Shigeru Miyamoto is now rumored to be having both of his eyes replaced by precious emeralds that shoot lasers. Just because he can.
Logically, this means that Nintendo can easily have a price cut without breaking a sweat. In the real world however, Nintendo is actually jacking up the trade price in Europe, pretending it can't afford to keep the prices the same. I find it quite amusing that European retailers are paying more to purchase the Wii, when they are costing 45% less to make. Greed is good, my friends. Greed is good.
Not that one can really fault Nintendo. People will keep buying, so Nintendo has no incentive to drop. Still, this should give you a good idea of how many dollar bills Reggie uses to light the cigars he had rolled on the thighs of young Indonesian virgins.
A lot.

Racecars, lasers, airplanes!
It's a duck-blur!
The money-making process never ends for them.
Greed is definatly good.
So what will change now, other than the Wii being more expensive for consumers and more profitable for Nintendo?
Research for their next gimmick.
And where's the outcry for this? If this had been MS this topic would have 200+ posts of people saying what greedy fucks MS is.
Oh right, Nintendo gets a free pass, I keep forgetting that.
We really have only ourselves to blame. If the general public stopped snatching them up, then we'd see a price drop.
@HPV
They're not being generous. The Playstation 3 simply would not sell at a higher price-point.
We never ever see Nintendo consoles discounted at all in U.K/europe, just the games. This really rives me insane and has done so for many years, that I remember back when the SNES was out and in its last year, Nintendo were still asking to much for one.
They do the same thing with the DS. Now that the DSi is out, the DS Lite should see a significant drop in price to shift the last of them. But alas, no, Nintendo keep the price artificially high. This is why I ended up buying a pre-owned DS Lite in the end, for £60 on ebay.
Sony are just as bad. The PSP 1000, should be costing at least half price by now, as its been out for a few years, and been upgraded in model THREE times. But again, we get stung on price again. As for PS2 and 3, same kind of story, different name.
What's happening with Wii is no surprise to me at all, seen it all before, and unfortunately price is part of the reason I don't own one yet.
No wonder I refuse to buy a Nintendo produced Wii game.
Oh, and screw your DSi, Nintendo.
On a lighter note: Jim's using VGChartz.com as a source?! haha neat. Someone scolded me for using it as reference one time. \m/ Jim gets props.
So I won't be losing any sleep over it...It seems to fit with their screw you atitude...
I'd rather stick with my bum DS than buy a new one if they pull this crap. Us Europeans get the shitty end of the stick anyway, and now they're trying to rape us with it?
No more.
