Nintendo has just announced a price drop for the Wii. Wow, what a surprise!
America gets the price drop first on September 27 followed by Japan on October 1. The system will now sell for $199 in America and 20,000 Yen in Japan. The system will still come with everything that was included at the $250 price point, including Wii Sports.
Europe appears to have been screwed so far, as the price went up and then back down. Car salesmen, take notes!

Great for anyone who was looking at picking one up though. I'm just hoping Nintendo are trying to ease more people into gaming culture so they can make another hardcore console and everyone loves it.

But seriously, fuck you Nintendo. No price drop for over 3 years, no different colors, no nothing. They just milked it for as long as they could without changing anything at all. And I really wanted a black Wii too. And by the time the drop actually comes, it's only $50, and I am way beyond caring anymore. So yeah, the Wii is probably my least favorite console, if you couldn't already tell. But I still am looking forward to playing New Super Mario Bros.
You can pick an Xbox360 Arcade up for €170 brand new and the wii costs €200......what are you gonna buy?.....lol

Balls. I forgot about this, been meaning to sell my Wii before this happened but for some reason I was hanging on for a game I'd actually enjoy on it. Silly me.
They'd have to announce a price cut for Europe first: What're the odds that there won't be one?
It's way cheaper than trying to buy an NES, an SNES, a Genesis, an N64, a Gamecube, a Turbografx 16, a Neo Geo, and a Gamecube.
Everybody bitches about how Nintendo has forsaken the "hardcore gamer" with games like Animal Crossing and Wii Sports, as if the company is suddenly gonna stop making everything else. It's just sad.

Last time I checked they still have. Just because they toss them a bone every 3 quarters or so, doesn't mean they're even trying.
Lower it? Remember, they raised it by 20 quid in the UK, some bullshit about exchange rates. If they lower it back to what it was they'll probably treat it like they're doing us a favour.
I understand it takes time to make stuff. Getting a Zelda and a Metroid every year would be pretty tricky, unless we want the series to go the way of Madden and Guitar Hero. At least we're still getting a solid first-party title or two every year.
You could argue that even the core series are going soft, but I'm not sure it holds up. Zelda hasn't been about being ball-bustingly hard since The Adventure of Link.
