What the fuck is this list? The reasons to get another system list? Jesus christ!

Thank god tax return check season is around the corner, looks like I need some new console money.

Not that I hate the wii, but its not looking nearly as good as it did on Christmas.

Joey, I tried to warn you about the Wii and what titles would be coming out. Listen folks, for the time being, it's gonna be GameCube all over again unless devs figure out something unique to do with the Wii. Frankly, I'm finding it harder and harder to have a reason to turn on my Wii.

I don't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Summa and I'm a nintendo fanboy. This is why I sold my gamecube and bought an xbox. If not for the Buckets ankle-biters the Wii would follow the gamecube path.

I am giving them until April/May to wow me, if nothing is announced by then, I'm done with them. The kids get the Wii.

I was *this* close to getting a Wii at launch, and then changed my mind and went with the 360. Looks like I made the right choice.

Summa would rather have an awesome machine like PS3, huh? Oh wait, IT'S NOT awesome! Nintendo aren't running with the momentum like they should be though. They have a chance to start really hurting the competition, but I fear GameCubeItis all over again. And since PS3 is an expensive piece of overrated shite, Xbox 360 wins.

On a side note, Mario Kart 64 wasn't that great. The first one was. And that first one should be on VC.

Mario Kart 64 would be fantastic on the Wii except for several reasons.

1. The Virtual Console controller sucks.
2. No added online play what-so-ever.
3. $10 for a game that is 10 years old.

I for one, am pissed that Super Mario Brothers didn't get a graphical upgrade. First that, now Mario Kart 64 doesn't have online play? Next you'll be telling me Super Metroid won't have the touted 'neural-link interface' with the Wii-mote either.

I'm mostly in it for first party. Third party game devs have, in large part, been jackasses towards Nintendo as far as I'm concerned. Metroid Prime is supposed to be Q2 and I'll use that to tide me over till project hammer, smash brawl and mario galaxy. FFS though, get some online play going Nintendo.

I can buy an Nes Game on Ebay for cheaper than 8 Bucks. I am too in the same boat as Summa, as the days pass I have just let my Wii get dustier and dustier. I weep for a second, then play my 360 or pc games.

I would say to find a nice EMU as a cheap VC substitute (online play included) but I gave that up with the first letter from the ESA to my ISP.

its not that i dislike Nintendo right now because of the lack of games for the Wii around launch time, its just that there are so many things that seem like obvious common sense in my mind that Nintendo should do, and they refuse to do them.

The very fucking least they could do on some of these games like the N64 ones is apply some anti-aliasing. its not that hard, i have an emulator that does in on my PC, Nintendo should do it too. They are doing almost no work porting the game onto the Wii Virtual Console and charging like they really deserve another $10 for a game that they have sold hundreds of thousands of times over the past decade.

jesus christ people. From reading all of these comments from "gamers" and "developers" on the internets I'm beginning to think that the developers are having more fun with games than the gamers are. Of course there's going to be a drought, all the games that were "must-haves" were out in time before Christmas. Look at the 360 and PS3 list for Q1 of 2007 and expect the same, only one maybe two games that are great.

Stop being negative-nancies and Crabby McCrabbersons and have patience and just enjoy the games you have and have fun.

I don't disagree with you at all about the virtual console. It's probably not something I plan on supporting much whenever I do eventually get a Wii. My hope is Nintendo will eventually roll out upgrades to the service to incorporate improved graphics, online play, et cetra. I also think the prices should be more like $1 for NES, $3 for SNES/Genesis/TBGFX, and $5 for N64.

It's a cool idea, but Nintendo's obviously still got some work to do with it. They still have the ability to improve the VC over time, but until they do I won't be spending many Wii Points myself.

Nintendo is going to have a hard time getting Goldeneye. Rare made the game, they own that specific IP. And Rare works for M$. on top of that EA owns the rights to all new video game releases using the James Bond IP. It is going to be a LOT of red tape to get it on the virtual console.

Yup, Rare developed stuff like Goldeneye, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Banjo-Kazooie most likely will never show up for VC. Especially Goldeneye because it's a licensed IP.

Sadly there's a lot of great NES/SNES gems that we probably won't see for similar reasons, like Duck Tales for the NES.

Am I the only one doubting the release of hit RPGs from the SNES days for the VC?

So far SquareEnix said NOTHING about allowing Nintendo to sell Crono Trigger or the Final Fantasy games through the Wii... yet almost everyone I talk to says they're looking forward to those specific titles.

Is SE going to do anything about this?

I see three titles on that list I want to have, no online doesn't bother me yet. But when Battalion Wars 2 comes out it just got to have online, its promised.

Kinda weak the Virtual Console doesn't have online but doesn't bothers me to much. Besides I'm pretty sure they can do a system update and make VC online. They don't have to change the roms, or they actual will do it.......hmmmm I don't know.

@kif: The reason is we only get the games that are released in Europe. We get the 50hz versions while the US get the 60hz also not all games made it to Europe so we'll see non of that. And now I think about it that probably one of the reasons VC is not online we all run different version of the games.

I'm severely pissed about Mario Party 8 as that bought some hope I could kick the console up in a couple of months. But now? I might just sell the console and pick a new one up when theyre readily available.
Someone, please, find a way to keep me positive...

SMB already got a graphic upgrade. It's called Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES. They probably won't release it till all the individual games have been released so they could make more money off the series. Same thing they are doing with Mario Kart. They know the SNES version was better, but this way they have people pay 10$ for it then pay another 8$ when the SNES version comes out.
I seem to remember that Nintendo said the VC was for the fans and not meant to be a money grab. Guess they changed their minds.

As much as I love nintendo games, I want more online play and better online play. Nintendo's console and game codes are going to be horrible, especially considering it takes hours to register someones console and will probable take the same amount of time to register the game codes. I am looking to buy the 360 just for the online component.

Wow with this sort of logic you guys must spunk in your pants and then punch your date in the face for letting you down.

Go read whats due out, who is developing for what and then stop being a weepy anus like Summa, thinking the console is doomed to failure. Jeez.

This is no GC event. The GC lacked developer support off the back of the developer unfriendly cartridge N64 and a strong PS2. Similar to the DS developers were probably hesitant to see how the public felt about the Wii before committing resources to it, now its outselling the PS3 4(3)-1 and is getting glowing media attention they seem happy to jump on board.

Yes, if you want games NOW then the 360 has to be the only system for you. Should you sell the Wii and pick one up later in the year. Perhaps, you might miss out on a couple titles but you could catch up.

Me. I'm happy picking up a book, watching a movie, playing on my PC... you know, not expecting my one console to be the be all and end of my entertainment time.

Doesn't it take time for dev's to develop new games? The Wii JUST came out. You can't expect it to have anything that amazing so soon after launch. I mean, how long did it take 360 to get it's killer app.? If you really want to play some awesome games right now, get a 360. For how long the wii's been out it's doing just fine, I'm tired of Summa's constant negative spin on anything Nintendo. stf, cracka.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm drowning in games. I'm fine for awhile. Maybe you all have far more free time than I do, but I've got a stack higher than a cheech and chong movie waiting on me to play.

I've got:

Finishing Zelda:TP (I'm at Hyrule castle)
Elebits (level 22)
Trauma Center (Just did the bomb mission)
Wario Ware (only 6 characters unlocked and played once)
Super Swing Golf (one tournament completed)
Super Monkey Ball (Level 1 completed)

And then there's the VC titles I haven't touched:
Gradius
R-Type (level 5)
Super Castlevania (Level 6, the library level?)
Super Mario (still haven't completed it once through)
Super Mario 64 (20 stars so far)
Bomberman 93 (only on level B)
Zelda (6 dungeons)
Zelda: Link to the Past (ONLY up to the master sword and aghnim battle)

And I bought this 360 last week. I have no saves from my previous 360 here so I've got to get infinite mode back on Dead Rising.

Gears of War
Galaga
Geometry Wars
NHL2K7
Texas Hold 'em
Street Fighter II
Burnout Revenge
Uno

I know some or most of these games, a lot of you have played already or are playing, etc.

Don't any of these games hold any replay value for you? I can play Dead Rising for hours. Doing nothing but slaughtering zombies.
Galaga? No problem. Geometry Wars? 6 months of that and I still play it like crack.

And that's not even counting the portable stuff. FFVI is coming out in two weeks. Jesus, I'm only going to have time for that when I'm on the crapper. I don't even buy PSP games anymore because I don't have any freakin' time for it.

I think some of you need to get something with some decent replay value. It'll tide you over till the next must have game comes along. Nintendo can't supply you with your crack forever.

And give the 3rd parties some freakin' time. Every 3rd party developer got a look a the Wii's reaction at E3 last year. You think that was long enough to get a game out 2 months after launch? HELL NO. We should only be so lucky that we got this many titles at launch.

How many of you got a N64 at launch? Remember? It was freakin' November before more titles came out. ANYTHING. Launch for 2 months was Pilotwings and Mario 64. That's it.
I fuckin' remember every damn day. I beat goddamn Mario 64 in a week and a half. And Pilotwings came 2 weeks later. But I waited it out and eventually good shit came along. Shadows of the Empire, then Blast Corps, and so on...

The third parties are bringing it. We've got Godfather (if you still want it...), Cooking Mama, Prince of Persia, Dragon Quest, Tiger Woods, a decent looking Sonic game. Obviously the developers want to make games for it. The lack of E3 this year's going to put pressure on GDC to have a game presence to rival it, and if it doesn't, something will come along and there will be something for the developers to show that they are putting shit out there and it is coming.

The Wii will bear this better than any Nintendo console in years. Like the VC or not, it moves merch for Nintendo, they're going to keep it up and running. They had a lot of success with the DS that's easily repeatable here, so they'll have "Touch Generations" style games coming soon enough on their part.

3rd Party IS coming. Nintendo's rebooted themselves with console sales numbers that prove to every 3rd party that they need to be on the Wii.

You don't sell 4.5 million consoles in 3 months and then have your support team shit on you. I mean, if car sales were bonkers, Goodyear wouldn't just suddenly close up shop and switch to bicycle tire manufacturing, it'd be fucking retarded. Everyone and their grandmother bought a Wii for xmas, and every game developer is going to want to get ahold of Granny's Medicaid checks and retirement funds.

If you're bored, sell your Wii like I did my original DS, but you'll regret it, like I did when good games finally came along, you have to go out and buy a new one again, just like I did.

Why the fuck do you people who constantly bitch about VC having updated stuff when Nintendo clearly said the VC will be the exact same games as they were when they first came out?

If you want classic games remade for your graphic whoring and broadband playing needs, go on Xbox Live Arcade or something. For those who enjoy the original content of the game who aren't moaning and bitching because the "new era of gaming" don't affect their classics in anyway, thanks for not bitching.

And for those games, sure there isn't much to look at, but Im willing to give Sonic and SSX Blur a chance. And we all knew of the inevitable drought of Wii games. No game company can work miracles overnight, so just shut the fuck up and wait.

Xbox 360 just started looking good to me around Thanksgiving. I'm willing to give the newcomers a similar grace period to start impressing. Next year, most of you won't even remember being disappointed.

But if it's instant gratification you're looking for, especially the Virtual Console variety - quit your bitching, check your ethical conscience at the door, and download ROMs until your cable modem explodes.

*Mxyzptlk: "I also think the prices should be more like $1 for NES, $3 for SNES/Genesis/TBGFX, and $5 for N64."

So long as people will pay good money for recycled games, instead of new content, Nintendo will keep doing what they are doing.

*abortion: "Doesn't it take time for dev's to develop new games? The Wii JUST came out."

Yes, but the Wii is based directly on the GameCube dev kit, so developers don't really have to learn anything new to make software. They also should be aware of how to take full advantage of the hardware right now, which is definately not the case with the PS3. Nintendo has been crooning cheap dev costs for a while, brainwashing the community into lowering their standards, and talking about recycling GameCube titles as Wii titles just by adapting them to the Wiimote and adding some minigames. How much time does it take to make Wii games? Not much, I suspect.

*Spectral: "For those who enjoy the original content of the game who aren't moaning and bitching because the "new era of gaming" don't affect their classics in anyway, thanks for not bitching."

So, next-gen is all about playing 10 to 20-year-old games on brand new hardware? You're not ticked at all that there's no original content?

Like I said... lowering their standards.

Frankly, these old games don't always age well, either. What was awesome in the 80's isn't always enjoyable today. And, yes, the emulators *could* add a few extra features like filtering and anti-aliasing, and make them optional just to appease the purists. Any way you slice it, it's about making money for free.

Burnt Meatloaf, the PS3 is a lowering of standards. Why? Because it's relying on ports of Xbox 360 games that came out less than a year ago to keep it afloat. At least with the virtual console, many of these games people haven't played for years, AND they can continue at any time with a save-state like exiting system. In my opinion, it's relying on graphics instead of gameplay that is the lowering of standards.

And yes, there aren't a lot of games coming out immediately for the Wii. This happens this time of year. It's because Christmas is over. Yes, it does suck, but it happens with all systems, not just the Gamecube or the Wii.
