Wii hard drive image is fake, good idea still doesn't exist photo

This morning after I was finished making my coffee, I turned on my computer to find out that the Internet exploded in a flurry of Nintendo speculation. The image above was being circulated as Nintendo’s solution to all of our Wii storage woes, or in other words, a hard drive. Unfortunately, CVG has recently confirmed with Nintendo that the device is indeed as silly as it looks:

"We have not announced or revealed any hard drive." Any hard drive related report is pure "rumour and speculation."

I did some research on the Internet today and I found out that hard drives have the propensity to store all kinds of data. These futuristic devices can store documents, MP3s, game saves, pictures, and even downloaded games. I then went on Wikipedia and found out that my Xbox 360 has one, so I promptly went back to GameStop and sold my six memory cards.

If this device for the Wii was real, that would mean I would also have to sell back all of these SD cards sitting around in my house. Thank goodness the image was proven false. I would hate to have an option for storage that made sense.

That hard drive looks really bad. They need something sleek... if they ever choose to make one... and I really hope they do.

that looks like an alarm clock fell on top of an air conditioner.

Why would they even bother with hardware? (other than gobs and gobs of cash) Just give me a system update already so I can plug something in.

i fail to see why you would need anything more than a jump drive... why the hell would you want this ugly crap or any external hdd sitting beside my pretty white box...

with jump drives at 16-32gig and the wii games not being the most graphically enhanced games of the century, I dont see the need for anything larger that takes yet another power plug...

People were actually taken in by something that had that picture attached to it?

This probably wouldn't have made headlines if whoever first posted the picture knew the metric system. I mean, those dimensions, translated into inches are around 10.8" x 6.7" x 15.9". They just don't make hard drives that big anymore :P

I'd rather have 50 SD cards duct taped together and a usb cord gorilla glued to it than that fake POS.

Sweet! I've always wanted a hard drive that should have been internal AND looks like a baby monitor!

Ever since the WiiMotion Plus was announced, I thought they should just duck taped a hard drive on the back of it.

Who would believe that? It looks nothing like the Wii, to many holes, buttons and too much blue.

Yeah, the dimensions on that are hysterical, especially considering the dimensions of the Wii itself are something on the order of 13cm x 20cm x 6cm.

If that were really the Wii hard disc, I'd have to wonder whether this would be considered 'peripheral' or the Wii itself.

that looks like one of those cheap mini-fridges...the ones that hold like one sixpack of dranks and a sammich. A Shasta and Balogna sammich cooling off next to my copy of SPOGS Racing and Pong Toss....We IS in da frooture, people.
