Wii Guitar Hero: World Tour a 'full SKU on par with its next-gen kin' photo

Let's face it -- Wii owners sometimes get the shaft when it comes to multiplatform software. Whether it's missing in-game features, lack of downloadable content, or sound issues, they really haven't had the best of luck. But when it comes to Guitar Hero: World Tour, we've being assured that there's nothing to fear.

Neversoft has confirmed that the Wii version of Guitar Hero: World Tour will indeed feature downloable content, the same that will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on a consistent basis. Additionally, the game's music studio and ability to upload and download user-created songs through the game's "GH Tunes" sharing community will also be present in the Wii version of the title.

"It's a full SKU, on par with its next-gen kin," project lead Brian Bright told us.

No word on a storage solution for all of this content. Hopefully Nintendo will have come up with something by then for all of us geeks and otaku.

I gotta say that I'm pleasantly surprised by this. I was expecting a neutered port on par with the Wii version of Rock Band. Downloadable content and user-created content is fantastic.

I wonder if this is the reason why Nintendo is jumping on a storage-solution after being adamant that it wasn't going to happen for so long.

Well, I wasn't expecting to hear this. If they pull it off, then awesome.

I really don't like the song list so far, but the gameplay and mechanics look like a solid evolution of Rock Band; color me intrigued.

* It´s great. Good job and what we expected from other companies (hello EA).

Wow, a third-party putting effort onto Wii. I'll be damned.

And awesome picture.

Did you mean "on par with"?

Also, hooray for them taking the Wii development seriously.

So, Nick, who made the "on par" mistake: You or Mr. Bright?

Uh, me, I guess. But I don't know why I would have made that mistake twice. Because it's a pretty stupid mistake (that has been corrected).

Sweet! Will we get to make our custom rockers as well? I'll definitely be buying this for my Wii if it's not been butchered of its features.

So I guess this means Harmonix and EA pretty much have to admit the real reason the Wii version of Rock Band has no features is because it's a cheap PS2 port... A 2Gb SD card can hold plenty of songs.

Remember though, EA doesn't suck, the press just hates them.

Good game Neversoft, will be buying this when it comes out.

I quite like this new controller you propose.

@Nick
Okay, I was genuinely curious. I had to pick up the grammar slack, since Samit hadn't gotten here yet.

Thus proving how badly Harmonix and EA have fucked up the Wii version of Rock Band.

Wait ... WHAT?! DLC?? I'm really curious to see how they handle storage. Glad that I have a 4 GB SD card that's not being used - just in case.

Do you buy the DLC from their web site, through the game itself, or has it actually been integrated into WiiWare? Any ideas?

Downloadable content for wii could definitely level the playing field for Nintendo's console at least. Now if they can get the price point right on the other consoles, they may take Europe by storm, and we could have a race on our hands.

Sooo....IGN has an interview up with some Activision dude, and it's looking like DLC will be put on either the Wii's internal memory, or an SD card. No support for an external memory solution here.

Let's see how that pans out.
