Most of us heard the news this morning that the Wii Forecast Channel launched a wee bit early, so with that, I decided to go ahead and make a quick walkthrough of the whole thing. There's not much to it, but some of the globe and zoom functions are kinda neat. Enjoy!

Spiffy, now I see why everyone is talking about the globe feature. Looks freakin sweet.

Would be nice if the showed the forecast in the forecast-icoon on the Wii-channels. Something like ever 10 seconds it goes on to the next day.

Cool, same subway line, but I was about 120 streets up, in the land of cheap rent and ugly bridges.

You noticed that when you hit that "Today" button on the bottom it said it was Sunny. So perhaps the day temperature is more accurate than the current.

When I checked mine at 9:30 AM, it said the temperature was 17 degrees at 6AM. The temperature had already risen 10 degrees since the 6AM update. If they are going to offer current temps, it will probably need to update more than every 3-4 hours.

Although, I did like how you can change the display on the globe view from todays CURRENT to todays HIGH to tomorrows HIGH to the weather ICON. Nice quick easy way to track systems as they move through.

Yeah, I dig the blue light as a notifier. I went down to my basement to work out and had no idea until I saw the blue light. I was like, hey, who sent me mail!? And I opened it up and it was Nintendo. Cool.

I learned that you don't necessarily need to pinch the A and B buttons to move the globe. As long as you're not over a city, the A button does it as well.

It'd be nice if the globe could display weather systems or something like that. Maybe in another firmware update?

Agreed, Rob. Considering they show a google image in teh Wii Ware section of the Shopping area, you'd think they would be licensing some of that tech.

Why doesn't the info show up in the channel menu, rather than a stupid forecast channel icon, like they showed as a feature in the promo videos?

I think they plan to make updates for this channel. Starting simple, and then adding cities and (hopefully) the info on the channel icon.
