According to videogame industry analyst Michael Pachter, Wii Fit is set to eclipse Grand Theft Auto IV’s sales this year. The news comes on the heels of a report by GigaOM who predicted the same thing.
So, how does a game like Wii Fit compete in the same marketplace that GTA IV was supposed to dominate until the next millennia? It’s simple. Wii Fit’s visceral combat, realistic physics, and glorious visuals have inspired countless billions to buy the game and its accompanying peripheral, the Wii Rocket Board. While the Rocket Board allows users to time travel as well as visit the moon, it’s really the game that people are gravitating towards.
The fact that Wii Fit may actually have the ability to outsell GTA IV cements the fact that our gaming climate has changed significantly since the introduction of the Wii. Hopefully Rockstar doesn’t take this news as an indication that Grand Theft Recreational Activities needs to happen.

Not everyone that owns a 360 bought GTA IV, but I'd hazard a guess that Xbox 360 software outsells Wii software overall.
Sorta like Resistance when the PS3 was released, everyone had it because it was the only game worth owning.

Yeah, I finally found a Wii Fit a few weeks ago and I'm still weak and flabby. Just wait though. Another month or so of that soccer ball dodging game and I'll be ripped.

Everyone who asks me what games to buy for their new PS3 or 360 gets the same answer: "Don't waste your time with GTAIV. Play something that's actually fun."
