Wii Fit to be in 'regular' supply, my mother scoffs photo

My mother’s epic search for Wii Fit finally ended a few days ago, but according to a statement from Nintendo given to MTVMultiplayer, she should have already have been able to get her hands on the game months ago.

Nintendo had a substantial supply nationwide for launch, though some stores saw spot shortages due to unprecedented demand for this unique product. The consumer response to ‘Wii Fit’ at launch was historically exceptional when compared with peripheral-based video game products. We are providing retailers with a constant supply of ‘Wii Fit,’ so you should see a regular supply of ‘Wii Fit’ on store shelves as we move through the summer and into the holidays.
Of course by “spot shortages” Nintendo must mean every store on the planet. My mother scoured the Internet and every retailer within a hour radius since the release of Wii Fit to find the game at retail price with zero luck. It wasn’t until my hometown’s Wal-Mart randomly got two copies in on Tuesday that she was finally able to experience how poorly the game tries to execute physical fitness.

Have you guys seen the game around reliably? Is there some secret coffer of Wii Fit that I have missed?

I just got it this last weekend, only because I had a friend 4 cities over that works at a gamestop and was able to hold it for me, apparently from what he said- the 1 case that they got that week sold out in a couple of hours- but I have not seen a wii fit in the store as of yet

I saw a couple at Wal-Mart about a week ago, when I was out buying a M$ points card in anticipation of Castle Crashers. I was going to buy it, but then I figured it would probably be used for a couple weeks and then left to collect dust somewhere in my house.

Crazy thing was that they had this weird apparatus on it...like two bicycle chains strapped to an anti-theft device. And, even though it was 7am, there were two people there buying them.

I've never seen them in a store. However, I do see people with Wii Fit in a Nintendo World store bag. So I assume the only place in NYC that reliably stocks Wii Fit would be Nintendo World.

Almost nothing related to video games is ever sold out in Berlin. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a couple of Wii Fit boxes over at the petrol station down the street. The only things hard to get I ever noticed over here were WoW+BC, GTA IV, and that X360 VGA cable. I am not kidding. Fucking VGA cable.

Doesn't anybody's parents do the "Sweating to the oldies" routine anymore?

I work in a Game Retailer in the UK, We were getting in 8 or 9 every fortnight or so, has been first come first serve since release day - although as I said, ourselves and a few other brands (Argos, Woolworths) have also been recieving them occasionally.

We 'reliably' get 2-4 copies per week. And we don't even know what day they will arrive. Could be any day Mon-Fri.

Thus, we have about 50 people call us EVERY DAY to ask if they've come in yet.

I'm still amazed that most stores still don't have the Wii console in stock, let alone Wii Fit. And what idiots are getting up at 7:00 am to buy a useless video game peripheral anyway??? If you're up that early why don't you just go to the gym??

lol, that is such a joke, Nintendo! I've also been looking since the WiiFit came out, nothing. Any store I go into that sells videogames I look for it and I've had no luck. It doesn't matter if it's a store in a dense populated city or a EB out in the sticks...they don't have any!

i work at gamestop and it is by far the hardest item to find we carry period. we get in 6 or 7 about once a week and they sell out in under 45 minutes every single time they come in. we get about 50-75 calls a day asking just for it.

I gave up on WiiFit when I realized that after searching for weeks on end, I really didn't want it anymore. Now, if I ask about it at a store, it's kinda as an afterthought. And even if they had it when I ask, I probably won't get it. I'm too busy playing games that don't require me to be as active.

@ Edge of Blade.

Same here. I think that it only sells so phenomenally well because Nintendo hasn't released a decent game since Mario Kart Wii. Nothing else for Wii owners to get excited about.
