The times, they are a'changin.
It seems that the youth of America are getting too fat to join the armed forces. Our sedentary lifestyles have made us ill-prepared for military training and injuries during boot camp are on the rise. What ever will they do?
In an article in the Navy Times newspaper, Navy Surgeon General Vice Admiral Adam Robinson has suggested that games such as Wii Fit and Dance Dance Revolution might be used as part of the training process. The theory is that games will be more approachable a concept and encourage recruits to keep moving.
My parents' generation thought that they could bring down the military-industrial complex with love. Turns out they might have had more success with Twinkies. God, I love this country.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
But then again, with today's technological advancements, one's weight and health isn't as important as it used to be.
This involved closing all the windows and "beating" all 80 of us until the temperature in the barracks reached the point where condensation would form on and drop from the ceiling. Hence the term "Make it Rain".
Sometimes it took over 3 fucking hours too.
sure it wasn't as hardcore as Full Metal Jacket, and they were required to use these cards with time limits on how long we would do exercises. but still!
and where would they put the DDR-Wii stuff? The gym takes up enough space as it is. There's certainly no room in the "ships" at Great Lakes.
I consider myself out of shape and even I passed. Lame.
