Yo, Playstation! I'm really happy for you and I'ma let you finish but Smash Bros has one of the best character sets of all time. Of all time!

I will be surprised if Solid Snake doesn't make it in, having been a PlayStation mainstay since MGS1. If he is included, I predict that this game will get some attention from the press, at least enough time for the Sony fans this game was designed for to get some grip on the engine's finer points. Then the Smash Bros. fanbase will invade it en masse and completely steamroll the Sony fanbase, who are inexperienced in Smash Bros.-style gameplay by virtue of never having owned a Nintendo console. Eventually the game will stop being played by all because Smash Bros. fans will hate it for not being enough like their favorite game (Melee or Brawl) and Sony fans will quit in frustration after losing too many times to seasoned professionals who now make up at least 40% of this game's playerbase. It will go down in history as a tremendous waste of time for all involved and the sequel will fare slightly better, but not enough to undo the damage caused by the senseless fan wars plaguing all games like this.

I don't see how this is going to work out. The main reason SSB works is because 99% of the characters are goofy and cartoony. I can imagine Donkey Kong flattering Mario with his palm, and then Mario bouncing back fine. Change that to Radec shooting Kratos with his machine gun, and it just gets weird.

While this is good news and all, it's a shame that few are really reporting that this game has a lot of battle-tested competitive players involved in it's creation - which is in stark contrast to how Brawl had it's developer intentionally putting in features to kill it's competitive viability.
