[Editor's note: This video contains a lot of profanity. If you're at work, take a pass on this one. -- Nick]

EA is a terrible company. They rape and pillage franchise after franchise and are basically a disease whose practices have lowered the standards of what passes for an acceptable retail game, much like rap and My Chemical Romance has ruined what is considered "music."

In the future, I imagine EA will just send you a box that has "Madden" hastily written on the side in Magic Marker, and a little midget will pop out and punch you in the nuts, then take your wallet. But of course, you won't even get to keep the midget because you will need to pay for a cheat code via Xbox Live that unlocks him somewhere in your neighborhood, and then you have to go look for him, which is going to be really hard because he's a freaking midget.

To all you retarded mongoloids who buy Madden year after year, thank you for helping destroy the game industry and supporting companies like EA. This video is for you. <3

[Via Kif's clog.]

From PSYK0MANT1S, the creator of the video:

Ok EA... I've been VERY QUIET for a long long time about the quality of your titles. I am quiet no more. Today I got off of work and there was nothing more i wanted to do but to play my new copy of John Madden 2008 Football on my xbox 360. Not even 2 games into my copy of Madden and glitches surface. Even your own in-game replay system helped me document this bullshit.

I'm sorry but I am not going to speak good of EA for the rest of my existance on this earth until I see some serious improvements in your quality standards. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count how many times I've been let down by Electronic Arts titles on PC, XBOX, XBOX360, PSX, and PS2. Let down you ask? Well let's talk about how EA needs to STOP releasing beta builds of their games. EA needs to STOP releasing a game that needs a patch the next day. EA needs to STOP letting us the consumer/gamer pay for a buggy product. EA needs to get their act together and get some REAL Quality Assurance going on.

Let me tell you something EA... My father said something to me a couple years before his death and I've never forgotten it. He said, "If you are not going to put your full ass into your work, then quit now. Spare me the trouble of finding it done half-ass so I can get on with my life."

I am posting this in hopes that I can alert the community of this injustice ONCE AGAIN committed by Electronics Arts to it's consumers. As gamers and consumers we need to stand up to our game makers and demand higher quality and assurance. My 60+ dollars today was spent only to be dissapointed...

 Amen brother.

Totally agree with you. I never listen to the radio anymore. They only time is when I am in Wichita, KS because they have a good rock station, or Kansas City, they have a good rock station too. I only listen to rock, I hate all other kinds of music. To me, all rap sounds the same, and pop and country should just be considered the same genre because country is just like pop with a twang. Thank goodness rock has survived.

I wonder if the Tiny Player roster update will happen again.

Anyone still have that, unpatched, for posterity?

I'd like to take this opportunity to say fuck SSX On Tour.

COMPLETELY. Agree. Remember the battlefield series that i still play?

The over blown BF2 mod? The EXP pack that was one of the worst releases ever? Because people are catching wind to how badly created and poorly supported the game is? KYS EA

I wish I could agree with you guys, but I can't. I've never played or purchased a Madden game, but I'm thankful they exist.

Madden is easily accessible and appeals to a more casual gaming market; there are many people who ONLY buy Madden games. As a result, Madden has become a cash-cow for EA and the money that Madden generates goes into developing and producing many quality games that we are all looking forward to (Rock Band, anyone?).

Also, more money being fed into the video game market only improves the industry on the whole. More and more small developers will be able to secure financing as investors begin to notice that money can be made from video games. If it weren't for the "big" games like Madden, it's unlikely that a lot of "hardcore gamer" favorites would see the light of day.

But you totally stole my heart and fucked it senseless with the "midget in a box" analogy. It's not easy for text to make me laugh, but you have done it, sir. You're in. And when I say that "you're in," I mean that you're having sex with me right now.

If this happens for the 360 version (arguably the most 'hardcore' console out there), it shivers to make me think what crazy ass bugs plague the Gamecube or DS versions. I'm proud to say between the current and last generation I own only one EA game and I bought it used.

You know, no one actually plays EA games, they are all on autorun. Also, EA are like the Conservative Party in the UK, no one you meet actually admits to liking them, yet thousands of people vote for them year after year.

I have yet to meeta single gamer who is a fan of EA produced games, yet EA games continue to top the charts. And you can't blame the casual gamer for this fuck up.

I've only played roughly 10 games of Madden 08, and I've seen that first glitch (where the QB takes the snap and proceeds to jog in place) 3 different times.

For the record, I wouldn't have bought Madden if it weren't for my employee discount and Blockbuster and a $10 off coupon.

the only thing i disagree with in that post is the rap the comment.

Rap has strong cultural roots, dating even farther back than the 1920s. It has the potential for true art, beauty, and poetry. Try turning off MTV and listening to real rap. What the industry force feeds your ears isn't rap.

Well, I’ve played a game and a half of Madden NFL 08 so far (I have the PS3 version), and I must say, I’m quite disappointed. They may have improved the gameplay by a lot over the past few years, but the graphical problems are just unacceptable. And EA’s bullshit “defense” to GamesIndustry.biz, which basically consisted of them saying, “Oh, we’ve been developing on 360 for nearly three years and have only had like one on PS3 so please excuse us,” was shameful. God. EA almost makes me hope that Guitar Hero III rocks the socks off of Rock Band, but that’s not true. I want both games to succeed. Grr...

By the way, William, I agree with you 100% on your analysis of modern music, but obviously not on the “retarded mongoloid” comment. Is it so much to ask for EA, as the company that puts out the only licensed football video game each year, to actually make a kick-ass game? Am I dumb for buying a game and expecting that it’ll be good, especially after I know it’s not just a “roster update”? (Contrary to popular opinion, they add much more than new rosters each year — if they didn’t, people would notice, and stop buying it. Okay, well, maybe not stop buying, but it would sell less...or so I hope). It’s a real shame that Madden has become this ridiculously mainstream thing, because the masses probably won’t even complain — they’ll just keep buying it — so EA can continue to sit on their haunches and put out crappy release after crappy release. Ugh. Activision, Insomniac, and Ubisoft (to name a few) FTW.

I know destructoid doesnt have the biggest collection of nfl fans but us addicts have no other choice. 2K8 doesnt have a long term season mode or a way to create teams that resemble nfl teams. I used the PC version of 06 for a couple years but it is so much easier just to buy the game. Its the only football us junkies got until our highschool/college seasons start outside of rounding up 22 people, buying pads, and decimating our lazy, overweight, uninsured american bodies.

im going to have to respectfully disagree. my biggest problem with ea is their monopolization of the nfl license. know why people ONLY buy madden games? its the only f'n choice! that is why its a cash cow for ea. i dont think microsoft worries about each new edition of windows. they just throw it out there, and without any competition...the public eats it up.

But Haley's latest post where he equates all rap music apparently as crap along with what I will agree to be garbage in My Chemical Romance is retarded shit. Don't be a fucking ass of hole who hates on shit because you don't have deep enough appreciation as an art form to listen to more than guitar solos and power chords. Maybe it's that I've been so consistently tricked into expecting intelligence of the utmost that makes me so fucking pissed right now, but come on, don't fucking diss an entire genre.

I don't play as Many RPGs as I do shooters or action games, but I still have an appreciation for the genre, even if I don't play it nearly as much as other gamers.

EA Sports, though, is the division that sucks wicked stank balls, and needs to be exorcized from the rest of EA. The shit their sports division gets away with should be considered a federal crime.

tbh, after their show with the PS3's 30fps with madden, I'm protesting EA games. I'm just not going to buy them anymore. They are such a waste of money. Example is the PS3 version of Madden. EA built the game for 360 (i think. idk but it wasnt for PS3), and then ported it onto like 8 other systems. wth? how many people do you think are going to buy the gamecube version of this game. PS2 will be more than GC but not by much. and you release it for Xbox, and PC, and DS. why release this for a handheld? or PC for that matter. football SUCKS on computers. I hope to god EA falls apart because of the games they have released lately. (and um...take ubisoft down with you, they are a waste of space too)

Sorry people, there is way too much money being made by ea to release a roster update every year. The consumers are the problem. I do think that the consumer should start putting money into 2k games or something so that there can be real competition to Madden. Even though they own the NFL exclusivity. Make EA work for their money. Personally I could give a shit less about football games, so as long as their other titles don't dissapoint, I'm ok. I can't remember the last game I actually paid for from ea.
zsavior's Avatar

Really this is a factor of everybody wanting their consoles to be hooked up to the net so badly. I remember many people warned that PC game developers release games very half assed just to say they will patch them later. The minute consoles seemed to have to hook to the net, I knew it was going to be a down hill process.

Millions of dollars are thrown at these men, and their fans care more about having the games in their hands than having a worth while product. More money goes to Ozzy Osborne doing promotion towards Madden than polishing the game. The reason is marketing a hyped game is easier than making a good one, especially if you have blind loyalty and the ability to just patch it later.

I get 6 free EA games/year and have trouble choosing more than 1 since they all suck and are not worth the investment. (of 0$) The only one I've had fun with in recent years is Fight Night Round 3, and that was mostly because of the purrty graphics (they were well tightened).
Jim Sterling's Avatar

While there is no excuse for releasing shoddy, hastily made games, I can't fault EA for rehashing its franchises year after year. It's not their fault they're making money from this shit, it really isn't. As Haley's last paragraph says -- it's the people who buy it that are at fault. Just like I justify Koei doing the same old shit, millions of people justify EA doing it as well. You can't blame a company for supplying what people demand.

So no, EA isn't evil, EA isn't terrible. EA just gives the population what it wants. That is all.

out of all the games ive played EA are the worst, they don`t even say sorry, we made a mistake.
It takes them ages to patch a game, and when it does come, it took so long that no-one playing it any more to get a decent game, or every1 has found out all the glitches and just cheating there asses off.
Lightthrower's Avatar

@Drunken

It's not that they don't have a good QA team, it's that they release products knowingly that there's still lots of bugs to fix. Their QA probably found all the glitches people have found on Madden, but EA couldn't miss the street date so they still shipped the game to make lots of $$$! EA sucks.
