Okay, this is a game I have not seen before. It's a game many people have not seen before. This makes no sense whatsoever, as it looks exactly like the kind of game that should be slapping Wii owners in the face and demanding their attention.

Flip's Twisted World has an open platforming design and visual style that draws out memories of Super Mario Galaxy, but adds in an awesome gravity-flipping mechanic just to keep things spicy. This is the kind of classic cute platformer that appeals to all ages and demographics, so why is nobody talking about it?

Fortunately, it's now caught my eye. Flip's Twisted World is on my famous "things other blogs won't talk about that I will cover incessantly and to the point of nausea" list. I will do this, even though one member of the game's developer, Frozen North, seems to hate my guts and regularly Tweets about what a scumbag I am. He seriously does that!

Tons of other blogs cover it :P - that's how I found out about it.

I know their trying to sell the game but their marketing spiel was so cheesy. You can see their eyes reading the cues.

However, the game footage is promising. Bit concerned that the controls look a little jerky (could just be the camera).

Also, Mighty Flip Champs and VVVVVV already came out, and they're awesome; if you like flipping.

Probably bad that I knew about this but thought it was a Wiiware release...

1:34 - "Lava"

As for the game, it has the potential to be a sleeper hit like Rocket (on the 64), but (obviously) it all depends on how well it's designed. The charm is there, but the gameplay remains to be seen.

I had heard about it, but I wasn't getting excited for it until the reviews. Has the potential to be great, but also can be easily screwed up.

I definately love the art style and "simple" but effective level design. Reminds me a little of Croc, I don't know why.

Looking promising but holy cow who would think that that awkward camera angle would be good for a platforming game? Fix it and I'm happy :>

It's a damn good thing Jim is on the case because no one on that development team is going to be able to sell this game. My God, I almost wanted to press mute just so I could enjoy the trailer.

looks good to me. I'm a sucker for 3d platforners. Mushroom Men is one of my favourites on the Wii so I'm happy to overlook a few technical problems for a bit of charm.
This seems to have it.

I'm not a big fan of the main character's design, but the level structure does look fun.

@The Young Scot - agreed the developers did nothing to enthuse the viewer and sounded utterly depressed. Fair enough each to their own, but if this is for promotional videos better to get some cracked up actor who can at least maintain your attention for 3 minutes even if he's just reading of a script.

As for the game, it looks like it'll languish in the shadow of Mario Galaxy 1+2.

You didn't know about it Jim? Not surprising since you didn't know about the Wii either until 2 weeks ago, I heard more about Wii games in the last podtoid than in the 100 episodes before it. Its just how the gaming press in general treats the Wii.

Looks like a complete SMG rip off for me, and I'm afraid this game will have a huge lack of SMG perfect gameplay.

Guys, Mario games aren't about themes or plot with kidnapping or getting coins. It is about perfect gameplay! Please rip off the gameplay (if you can) and build your own style and story around it.

Recently seen Super Mario Bros rip off for Linux (about tux in a red hat). Same shit - similar style, game concepts and techniques but the gameplay itself is not even close in terms of quality.

Oh fuck me naked, Mario got a LOT of clones in almost every way, I think it's great to adapt a similar idea and add of your own.

If it wasn't because of Mario, Sonic would have probably not existed, neither Crash or Spyro.

THIS kind of games is what the generation lacks greatly. I am tired as shit of games looking too serious now.

Uhh...maybe not the classic 2-D Mario but that is the whole point of the 3-D starfinder Mario games.

The reason you haven't heard about it is because Majesco's publishing it. Unless the game has "Cooking" or "Mama" in the title, they tend to send games out to die.

Because it is a reversed engineered video game that shows little to no originality what so ever.

but if your into that king of thing have at it.

I just choose to support developers that are original and put good work into their games and not rip everyone else off.

Tell me, what other game have you seen that you choose to move all the map? Super Mario Galaxy is only similar in the deal of having a twisted environment with freedom to roam.

To be fair Jim, a lot of Wii owners were turned off by the original trailer which looked like complete arse. This looks a lot better!

Oh my god, that looks amazing. It's like Super Mario 64 meets Super Mario Galaxy: twice the mega power. Throw in a bit of Ocarina of Time minus the sword, and it looks like a great triple threat of a 3D game.

To be absolutely honest, you're a scumbag Jim... Ok, I retract that. People are just not open minded enough, and I just wanted to poke fun at you.

Next time I see a game like this maybe I'll tip ya off to it. For the record, known about this for ~2 months.
