When Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux said his next game was based on a “single, pure thought,” it was hard to imagine what exactly he meant. Despite opportunity, Molyneux hasn't elaborated on the statement, so it's only fair that we speculate. Could the game be about something as simple as pooping? Or could it be something lofty like justice or survival? We've recently come across concept art from two different Lionhead games about the latter choices.
The art is from Leading Light Design, a company that specializes in concept and production design. One of the two projects that Leading Light has done for Lionhead (via superannuation) is named Justice, and the other has been dubbed Survivors.
Justice (pictured above) conveys its name quite well. The art suggests that the game will tell the story of an escaped convict looking for redemption. Survivor has the beefier gallery to tell its story. Some sort of disaster (or a series of disasters) has occurred and crippled the old neon boardwalk Coca-Cola lifestyle. The images show a variety of people in different places, presumably surviving whatever happened.
Both titles feel like a radical shift from what Lionhead has released the last few years. It will be interesting to see how Molyneux envisions something a bit more modern and (hopefully) without potions that remove scars.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Indeed. That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pic as well. Quite an unfortunate coincidence though I wonder when these concept pictures were released...
I just love survival games, but most of them are to story driven for my liking.
Stranded II is a pretty decent survival game without story, but it isn't a disaster survival one...
And fallout 3 has just the right setting but isn't really focused on survival.
What I want is a non story driven urban survival game, like collecting food at stores and finding good places to sleep and move on. Maybe some events but not much, like running into fellow survivors or finding some establishment where you can co-operate with (finding food for everyone in there) or just pass by and move on, a game that go's on untill you pass away.
I'm gonna check survivors anyway. It kind of looks like that other disaster game, what was it called again? I Live, Still Alive? Something like that.
So how is that Justice? Interesting route for Lionhead. Alittle . . . serious . . .
Secondly, while the Buffalo crash was tragic, why should he not publish his works for a global audience because of the delicate sensibilities of a comparatively minuscule amount of people? The U.S. is not the world, even though we have an (annoying) tendency of thinking that we are.
And, yes, that plane IS Air Force One. The "28000" on the tail fin confirms it.
Zanfib is right on the money: 28000 is used for the 747s that fly the president around. They also have the US flag on the tail, and you can see part of the light blue body of Air Force One as well.
Google Maps seem to show that it's crashed on Maryland Ave. NE, for those of you in the DC area. That's the only street with residential houses and a view of the Capitol like that, according to street view. Maybe they were making an emergency landing at Washington National and didn't make it?
An original well-designed espionage thriller would be nice to see. Kojima without the more wild elements.
Ubi's I Am Alive I think could be one of 09's games to watch. If Molyneux can quit his high brow ideas that don't quite work, I'll check his games out too.

Would be banned in all regions except the UAE.
I wonder how they are going to pull this game off? & get it published.
Here is a haiku:
Molyneux dreaming.
Airline crashes at sunrise.
Is he alien?
Not to be cold-hearted but, people need to learn to move on.
Remember that day, in 2001.. I don't need to tell you the date. Remember what it did to us, not just on TV but in movies? Remember all the crap they had to take from movies that had the "structures" in them? Why? Because we aren't meant to ever lay eyes on them again? It's stupid. Don't treat us like babies unless you see us wearing a bib and suckin on some formula.
