no seriously, after Lost Odyssey, I'm hooked again :-)
I guess it might suck compared to the other ones I haven't played, but in the grand scheme of things I thought it was really damn good. The story got stupid toward the very end, but the gameplay was awsome.
SO4 is gonna be sweet hopefully.

I don't know what you think Star Ocean is, then. You spend the entire game in SO2 on a planet. With people using you. And you were in space for about ten seconds in the first one.
SO3 had the best battle system by far. The only major thing I didn't like about it was gimping item creation. I really hope 4 has a cool IC system.
Also, big titty elf is a mainstay in my party regardless if shes a weak link or not
also, @qraze, what other star ocean games have you played to think SO3 wasnt a Star ocean? SO1 you're in space for all of a couple story scenes. SO2 You have even less time in actual space , though I will grant that you dont spend all game on a backwater planet, but the Nedians do use the hell out of you anyhow. Even Blue Sphere takes place completely on some backwater planet.
SO3 is the only one I can think of where you travel to multiple planets at will
