You may not know this, but nothing is more important than the color of your controllers. If your controllers don't match your gaming pad then you will be judged by others. Judged, I tell you! And it won't be good judging. It will be the kind of judging where they tell their friends how uncoordinated your house is and then no one will come over.
If you're a PS3 owner and a have an all white gaming pad you've pretty much been screwed until now. Thankfully there are alternate color PS3 controllers, and the white one is finally coming to the U.S. on Feb. 19, and you can once again feel like your room is partially more coordinated. GameStop has started pre-orders for the controller at $54.99. There's still going to be a black monolith in the middle of your white living room, but if you were that committed to the whole white motif you would have gotten a Wii anyway.

As dumb as this may sound, I wish PS3 controllers had wrist straps like Wiimotes. I've already dropped and damaged two DualShock 3 controllers. So, an optional wrist strap of sorts would be nice.
The controllers are expensive because they're wireless bluetooth and come with built-in rechargeable batteries. I've had two Dualshock 3 controllers for almost two years that still hold a charge for days. This really highlights the quality of Sony's products. I bought my PS3 years ago and everything still runs great, and I haven't paid a cent for online multiplayer, for console repairs, controller batteries, or even a headset (my cellphone headset paired just fine).
Well that's good to hear. I mean it as not only by Sony but any console's controllers are quite pricey. It discourages me a bit of getting a second controller for my roomie when I get a Wii.
p.s. it should be noted that I needed a new 360 controller anyway. I didn't buy it just because it was red. I'm not that crazy.

I second the request for a wrist strap, I'm always dropping my Dual Shock on the hardwood floor, it survives every time, but I still cringe when it happens.

It strikes the perfect balance between angering me enough that they exist, when they should have been the only controller available at launch, and not angering me enough to fork over hard-earned money for one when I have two controllers that, despite the lack of rumble, are otherwise functional.
It is the equivalent of a piece of popcorn stuck in my teeth.
Only paid $40 for it, too. Bought that Uncharted + Controller bundle at GameStop, traded in Uncharted for $20 (Already had the game) and then returned the black controller to Wal-Mart for the white one. Now all I need is the Red and Blue and I'll have the multi-color set-up going just like the Nintendo 64 days. Ah, the nostalgia...
