White Knight Chronicles story trailer looks nice, has clowns photo

We've been talking about White Knight Chronicles, the PlayStation 3 exclusive role-playing game, for some time now. I think Tokyo Game Show in 2007 was the first time we saw it up close. But for as long as we've been hearing about it, we haven't seen much more in the way of details other than some screenshots and vague story elements. To be honest, it's taking so long that I find my interest fading. This new story trailer helps a bit, though.

In the video below, you'll see a celebration complete with flipping clowns and red noses. Look, no one warned me about this clown stuff. I'm not cool with it, and you shouldn't be either. Maybe they'll have a patch for that.

Otherwise, the trailer is great. It's packed with cool imagery and just enough story detail to draw you in. A forgotten and ancient secret awakes and messes up happy clown time, and then everyone starts fighting. There's lots of spinning, turning, dramatic looks, and light beams coming out of chests. You know, RPG stuff. It all ends with a nice subwoofer-filling boom. Exciting.

Let's hope this excitement holds out for the winter release of the game.

"May contain content inappropriate for children." Clowns. I see a connection here. I think I saw some inspiration from Lord of the Rings in there. One of your fellow knights looked just like Aragorn. Hell, the evil knight dude looked almost like Sauron.

Anyway, I saw explosions, sword fights, a guy talking to a floating dude that reminds me of Seth from Street Fighter IV and the guy can summons something that looks like a Transformer.

If anything, this trailer just confused me more. But I was captured by the beautiful scenery of the game. And the clown guy's ridiculously long and wavy mustache. I am still very interested in what this title brings, since I need all the help I can get to know what's going on.

Is it me or does this look like a ps2 game? I'm still getting it--just saying.

WINTER? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

But my god this game is beautiful. Level 5 hits the artistic sweet spot yet again.

@CallMeRotten, why'd you have to say that? Now I can't help but imagine that the clown guy is doing this as a part of some "get-rich-quick" scheme.

@Tash: It's certainly not pushing the limits of the PS3 hardware. At least we can expect a decent framerate, I guess.

Quirky story, but I want more gameplay videos.

I was excited about this back in 2007 but my interest has certainly waned since then.

Is that a turtle with a castle on it's back?! Daaaamn. Reminds me of Demigod, but with more than 12% of players actually buying the game.

It certainly has the graphical quality of Kingdom Hearts II, or is it just the videoclip quality?

Wow. A game with seemingly decent voice acting?!

I don't buy it.

At least not until the game comes out.

Then I'll buy it.

And I, for one, think the graphics look pretty good. Don't know what you people are talking about.

Wait a second... the 'evil circus' plot beginning was used in Dark Cloud 2... has Level 5 started to run out of ideas?

I don't think so yet....

@Batthink

What if it crosses over with Dark Cloud 2?
