Imagine getting home from the store, anxious to crack into your new copy of White Knight Chronicles 2. Well, first imagine that you're in the future and the game has been localized and released already. You pop in the game and and grab your controller, but before you can start you're hit with a message that clear data from the first White Knight Chronicles is required to start the second game. I'm no clairvoyant, but I can promise you that this is going to happen.
WKC2 will require the clear data from the first game, as the story picks up right where the first game left off. Me? I'm good. I kept my data. Hopefully you kept yours too.
Before you throw your hands up in the air in protest, know that the entire original game is included in the package with this sequel. What's even better than that is that the game play systems have been updated to better match the sequel's.
Andria Sang says that once you boot up, you're given a choice of starting form the very beginning, or continuing from the end of the first game. If you do start at the beginning of WKC2, know that your level will be reset to below level 35.
Hell, the first game might be slightly more enjoyable with some of the sequel's improvements. Who knows.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
nice, Level 5.
At first I was thinking that this is ridiculous until I read that they updated the fight system in the original for this package.
Truth is, I've been steering clear of the first game because of all the big flaws that people said it had. If this pack-in addresses even a few of those issues I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it.
This is full of win.
Gotta love those blu-rayz!
What was the first game? A paid beta test?
I read that the first game is included so you can "understand" the whole story.
Understandably, there are schedules for game releases and once a game is made we can accentuate it with DLC and further episodic content, but at no point do we call this a new game or a true sequel. This is what WKC2 is attempting to do, and honestly if they don't discount this or offer the sequel content as DLC I can see a lot of people getting angry for buying the first game when they simply could have waited.
I am, of course, discounting the possibility that the graphic engine, gameplay, and design could have possibly changed between episodes, but seeing as how quickly we are seeing this information announced after the game's initial release, it seems unlikely at best. I don't want to rag a game before it has even came out, but it is actually out already, and I find this 'sequel' to be insulting at best.
Easy to get, hard to use. Most saves are usable only with the profile they were created on.
this is a great idea for a great game that is all about online teamwork, grinding and farming. if you put 700+ hours into a game, you would want everything carried over. unless you like games where you gain a bunch of awesome shit and in its sequel they take everything away at the beginning. like zelda for instance.
i'm willing to bet most of you people hatin haven't even played the game and go by some silver spoon mouthed reviewers word.
What purpose is there to delete saved game files (they dont take up enough room to even warrant attention, and i have a 40 gig PS3), or to beat a 25 hour long RPG on a "friends" console.
WKC2 comes with the ENTIRE first game, which has been updated. So i dont understand how their excluding anyone.
Get WKC2.
Beat the first game.
Play the second with the first games saved file.
How hard is that?
You get two full length JRPGs on the same disc, that's well over 100 hours, they even updated the old version. It's not much to expect people to have played your first game before continuing the story.
Only people who can think this is a bad deal are those who lost their save files, luckily you can download clear saves quite easily.

Oh, now that's a much better solution, hell, might even encourage people to buy this on day one since it's almost like a 2x1 deal, well done Level 5.
Way I see it was the first game was just a means of coming up with revenue without having to resort to online fees like Phantasy Star Online or Universe did. And in true PSO fashion, the real fixes and new content come when you pay for another copy of the game.
Level 5 and Sony just don't want to refer to WKC2 as what it is - an expansion pack. And they sure seem to have fooled some people here already. I know Phatasy Star when I see it.
and to the people thinking the game is only 25 hours. add another 700+ hours into that equation if you want to complete everything geonet has to offer.
