Whining causes Forza DLC track to drop in price photo

After posting the original story about the upcoming Forza Motorsport 2 DLC track, Twin Ring Motegi, I felt bad. Perhaps I was a bit harsh -- maybe 600 MS Points ($7.50) is a reasonable price for a single race track for a $59.99 videogame. Nah, that actually is too expensive, isn't it?

Well, Turn 10 and Microsoft were listening to fan's cries, and have decided to lower the price. When Twin Ring Motegi hits the Xbox Live Marketplace tomorrow, it will only cost 400 MS Points ($5.00). But Forza community manager Che Chou plays it safe in his announcement of the price drop, not once admitting that maybe $7.50 was just too damned high to begin with.

"I just want you guys to know that the main impetus for this is directly related to the feedback we received here on the forums," he writes, "particularly the concern that 600 MS points requires the user to purchase a block of 1000 MS points from Live Marketplace, whereas 400 MS points only requires the user to buy a 500 MS point package from Marketplace."

Well maybe Microsoft should have thought of that before they decided to use fancy fantasy moon money as their digital currency, eh? In any case, it's cheaper now, but is it still really worth the cost of admission?

I mean seriously. 5 bucks for a racetrack?

I'd rather wait and buy Pop on WiiWare for ten bucks. Not as bad as that crappy horse armour for Oblivion though.

Anyone else thinks that 5 dollars for only a racetrack is a double rape in the ass?

I'll probably be in the minority here...
$2.50 difference usually doesn't sway me. In this case however, I'm seriously considering picking this up.

I'm not sure about the size of this download but their earlier cars were things that weren't on the disc that you had to pay extra for. It's something they worked on to add as extra content and you really don't need to buy it to enjoy the game.

It's only if you want the extra content. Which, honestly, I kinda do.

Also, the people who actually dropped the dime on the track just found out that the bone that raped them just grew by two-fifty.

Let's all gripe about the Katamari DLC. Maybe then it'll be free like it should have been.

Way to go, Microsoft. Because of your weird pricing structure, they can't overcharge for a single track.

No offense but the whole MS point system is bullshit. Why do you have to say points so people get confused into not knowing their spending real money? They need to call it Monopoly dollars.

I'm sorry honey, but it's not about the size that counts. Don't see it as not having the full package, see it as supporting the small package protection industry!

I'm buying it. What? I love Forza and those tracks are getting old. And yes, Volomon. The MS points system is total ass. This is coming from a long time XBOX gamer.

Can they at least make it so 500 means $5.00 or how about allow us to buy individual 100 point packs? They need to do something about that. It's retarded.

"U.S. money isn't the same as European money." No shit! You mean to tell me that you can limit which demos go where, but you can't convert money? Ass.

you mean 400 points, right?

I still won't be buying this, even with the lower price. I got bored of Forza months ago, there's just to many games to play.

This is just as bad as the Guitar Hero II song packs, and it’s worse than Sony charging $8 for two new Resistance multiplayer maps (which were both still awful). Why can’t companies figure out DLC pricing? I mean, how hard is it?

They're trying to make up for the copies they'll be "handing out" during the holiday season.

Power to the people!

We need to whine harder, though. Should still be 400 points at most.

Someone in Blockbuster told me whining to customer service gets you cheaper shit. Whining works for everything except when you turn 4 or so. Then you get the shaft...

"'this is directly related to the feedback we received here on the forums'"

Everyone was basically saying I'm not willing to be ripped off for a fucking new track. Less 'feedback' than open hostility. Got the job done though!

Apparently the RSS feed said it was 500 points but the actual post was fixed so my previous comment is wrong.

Screw that. This DLC stuff is really getting out of hand. First rip off that was horse armor, then the wallet battery BS that was Katamari, and now this. Fuck MS, AND their moon money, AND the horse they rode in on.

2.50 is more reasonable for one track...but still wheres the incentive of the new track...is there going to be an achievement or a new car you can unlock when you play the track? no. all it is is a new little track. thats it.
Simmy's Avatar
Simmy at 10/26/2007 16:59
5.00 would be more reasonable if the track in question was actually any good. I remember playing the Twin Ring on GT4 for the PS2 and I hated it. If the track in question was say the Nurburgring Nordschleife (i wouldn't know if this is there already) then I don't think anybody would have a problem with $5
