Quantcast

So with much hesitation I must say that this trailer for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Where The Wild Thinsg Are: The Video Game looks pretty good. Now, that's suspicious because, as we know, this title started life with the now defunct Brash Entertainment.

Looking at Brash's output, we have: Alvin and the Chipmunks; Jumper: Griffin's Story; Space Chimps; The Tales of Despereux; and the Wii-exclusive Six Flags Fun Park, a true coup for Nintendo's console. All of these games (and you'll find little argument over this) were either incredibly mediocre or just outright miserable

So this leads me believe that Where the Wild Things Are, a former Brash product, probably won't be great. But here I am, kind of interested to check out the game based on the movie based on the book. Maybe it has something to do with how excited I am to see Spike Jonze's film, which by all accounts looks marvelous and beautiful.

In any case, good or bad, the trailer for the game is at least kind of neat, and watching it will cost nothing but a few moments of your time. It's out in October for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

It looks at least as good as Prince of Persia.

Ugh, licensed game fodder. If they're were smart, they would have done something fun and universally appealing. Maybe open ended like Animal Crossing.

Is it just me, or does that movie seem really angsty for kids?

No. This does not look good, it looks like crap. Too creepy for me.

It looks like typical licensed crap. What are you on about?

Shhh... don't call it crap. We might get them to buy some ad space.

Yay, Capitalism! USA! USA! USA!

I think I see what Chester says, normally licensed cheapskates look much mediocre in detailed stuff like animation and cutscenes.

The DS version of it is getting made by WayForward, an otherwise greatly talented developing company. But, lets see how this wrecks, or in the oddest of cases, becomes a hit.

it would be more fun if you could use guns in it- maybe there will be a mod.

Yeah movie is mind blowing while the game is... shit. See I couldn't even be bothered coming up with a fucking pun or anything. It just looks like aids. I'll just stick with the movie.

Bah, the book was shit that's ONLY redeeming value was the artwork. The movie looks like shit and the only redeeming quality is seeing the artwork come to life. Let's face it. If you take off the retrogoggles for a moment, Where the Wild Things Are is an utterly fucking worthless book. Except the artwork.

Hopefully people will remember this when they watch this movie. "Wait, what the fuck. Kid is forced to skip dinner because he was being bad so he takes way the fuck off and accomplishes nothing and comes home to be rewarded with dinner after all... wow, lessons learned on that journey."

I get where you're going with this... the game will probably be crap. I don't know for sure, but it's a decent guess. But based on this trailer, this looks like "crap" or "shit"? You HAVE seen shit games before, right?

I think it looks about on par with similar productions. You see the framerate chuck more than a couple times in the trailer itself.
