What would consoles look like gone Steampunk? photo

I am a complete sucker for certain eras, no doubt more than half of the reason I was completely obsessed with BioShock for months on end. Apparently I'm not alone, as Something Awful did up a recent Photoshop Phriday with elegant images of consoles reimagined as a part of their "A Better World" theme.

It hurts me that that the wooden DS does not exist. I would whip out a gold stylus and be snobby in public with all the pride my little heart could muster. I would also happily don three-piece suits and rock watch chains, but that's another story altogether.

I'd buy a DS for the third time if I could get one that looked like that.

my god. that's freaking awesome! all we need now is a DS made entirely made out of metal (except for the screens) and we'd have the DS of the Past, Present and Future!

The 1950s is one of my favourite eras.

So this touches me in all the right places.

I dunno, half the appeal of the DS is the iPod-white finish, at least for me. However, I do have a retro-styled mono radio, complete with wooden finish.

I prefer the coldness of stainless steel to brass. Brass just strikes me as being very suburban.

I bet these people use a stolen prototype of a brain-computer interface.
