What we needed: LEGO Prince of Persia photo

Live from this past weekend's toy fair in New York City, LEGO has announced a line we certainly wouldn't have expected: LEGO Prince of Persia.

Set to launch in April 2010, the line of toys appears to be based off the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures and Jerrey Bruckheimer film, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. No details on what we can expect in the line, one can suppose it'll be blocky version of the film's stars, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, and Alfred Molina.

The verdict is still out as to whether the film -- scheduled to hit in May 2010 -- is anything to be excited about. Outside of images of a shirtless Gyllenhaal, we haven't seen much. I'm waiting for a trailer to start coming to terms with my disappointment. But if the LEGO designs tie in with the game's to any extent whatsoever, these things they're trying to sell me? I just might buy 'em.

Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince
Keanu Reeves is Spike
Leonardo DiCaprio is Kaneda

When is this shit going to stop?

Also in that picture he looks like he belongs in a Team Fortress movie, not Prince of Persia.

Agreed. Though I have to admit... Reeves does sorta look like what I'd expect Spike to look like in live action, I've gotta admit. >.<

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to my cryogenic freezer. Do me a favor and pop me out when Traveller's Tales announces the accompanying video game. Help yourself to my pork rinds and iced tea in the meantime.

I misread this at first and thought it was a new Lego video game. A line of toys is more palatable than a Lego game based off another video game, 'cause I can think of a fuck-ton of other licenses that would be better to see in Lego form than Prince of Persia.

Still, my son is going to see these in the store and ask me what the hell they are. Batman, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, as well as their other crazy lines like Pirates and space sets...he can identify.

He, just a thought...where's the Superman playsets? You'd think they'd be a no-brainer).

But, Prince of Persia? Kinda...strange...

This pretty much definitely means a lego PoP game. all the other three (Batman/SW/Indy) were toy lines first

I'm not expecting much from this movie. It will probably be very flashy, have a nice visual style but everything else will probably be crap.

As if you needed any more than a picture of a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal to make a judgement on a movie.

I give the movie a 9.5, and I'm really mad at that poster on GameFaqs who thinks it only deserves a 7.

I'm still hoping for a LEGO Lord of the Rings game.

Seriously. I want to play a Lord of the Rings game that's fun.
