You know what, Jimbo? Complain as you see fit, but I would like to see you come up with a better way to get customers to put their digital John Hancock on a TOS agreement every few months. All I do is see you whine and whine about constant firmware updates, but you never come up with a more convenient way for Sony to change the rules while the game is being played. Unless you plan on personally sending an email to every PSN user asking them to resign a TOS every few months or so, I'm not sure your wiseassery has any place in this matter.

And as for that "problem," I don't see Microsoft or Steam requiring a new firmware update every month, or as you call it, a new TOS agreement. As a journalist it is his duty to to criticize the happenings in the medium of video games. He is making a comment on Sony, yet again, releasing another firmware update that, again, brings nothing interesting or new to the table.

Disappointing. I updated and it was done in about two minutes. Is there a way to reinstall firmware?
Y'know what's really funny? The 360 update next month that rolls out an entirely new OS will likely take less time than this.
im gonna have to wait for a collectors edition when other updates are available so that it would take longer to complete!

Well, to be fair, Valve does tend to update the Steam client about monthly (more if ya beta test) and Microsoft is known to plop out dashboard hotfixes with no changelog as well.
I'm into crazy stuff like Nightly builds so I'm not opposed to frequent updates in the least but come on ya gotta have detailed changelogs or just get the fuck out.

Yeah, it didn't do anything obvious, but it only too a minute or so to download and install unlike the PS3's firmware updates. Even the big dashboard updates that the 360 got were still much faster. One of the biggest reasons I can't stand my PS3, it literally seems like every time I turn the fucker on I have to update the firmware. What a load of shit. Downloads in general are slow as fuck on the PS3, using the same internet it should be downloading at least on par with my 360 but nope. The only reason to own a PS3, for me at least, is the few good exclusives and the Blu-Ray player, oh and it's pretty convenient too if I want to pop in some of my old PSone games.

C'mon Jim. Be fair. It's a firmware update so I don't think it should bother us right? Besides, using auto updates via PSN plus would make the updates easier and without hassle.
It's nice to see Sony isn't afraid to release it same day as Arkham City. 3.73 can hang with the big guns.
I wonder if they are finally updating the browser to the more recent version of Flash?... that would be nice! (though probably unlikely) :(
To all ya'll talking about the Xbox 360, don't you get faster downloads because you pay a subscription fee? I have both a PS3 and a 360 and I always just assumed that was the case.

@Burdmayn: Xbox Live silver members get faster downloads too--at least in the U.S. I've heard anecdotal reports the services are on par in other parts of the world.
I'd really love to see an update that updates the update process. The worst thing about these is having to manually go to the settings tab, arrow up to the update icon, scroll through the new TOS, tell it to install, etc.
At least when the 360 updates it pops up with a "Do you want to update now? Y/N" as soon as you turn on the console, and then it's like one or two button presses and you're done. Absolutely zero hassle.

weird i just had to update my dell with firmwares and drivers updates and bios updates to keep it current. i wish it was as fun as the ps3 updates.

3.72 was great but 3.73 was beautiful. i cried at the end longing for more. arkham city can't hold a candle to 3.73. it was so good that i now can't play BAC because of the fun gap between the 2.
