Starfy? Really? Actually, the katakana says something different, like Stafy. Both sound silly, though.

Today Nintendo released a massive list of games that are coming our way this year, and included under their own first-party titles is something called The Legendary Starfy, sitting there on the list, expecting us to know what it is. If it's so "legendary," then why have we not heard of it before?

Oh, okay. So we have heard of it before. It's Densetsu no Stafy, a platformer that has never shown its face here in America. Starfy is a cute little swimming star with a mouth and eyes. I know that sounds creepy. He does this kind of floaty water platforming thing. Hey, you might have seen him in Super Smash Bros Brawl as an Assist Trophy (video after the jump).

Starfy has a history dating back to the Game Boy advance, and now he's finally coming to America on the DS. I don't know why Nintendo thought this would be a good time for his U.S. debut. Maybe they thought the game cameos were enough. Or maybe it's that good of a game. We'll see.

Enjoy the wacked-out Stafy music video from Japan above.

I knew that looked familiar.

He's really easy to kill in Brawl... I hope he's not in his own game.

That would suck.

Maybe NOA thought stafy didn't sound starfish enough, because I don't see it being a translation error.

Well, it's random that they're finally bringing it here. If it's for DS, I assume it's Densetsu no Stafy 4? Also, it'd be nice if they made up their minds about Stafy vs. Starfy - I'm pretty sure they called him Stafy in Smash Bros., but Starfy makes more sense.

Guess Nintendo of America realizes that there is a market for Japan-only games outside of Japan...

Now WHERE ARE MOTHER 1 AND 3?

Ahem. Sorry about that...

Yeah, I wonder if this is Densetsu No Stafi 4. That'd be cool. I buckled down and imported Densetsu No Stafi 2. It was pretty good. I wanted to get the third game, but I couldn't justify the cost.

And this was the 4th game in Japan right? Nintendo will ignore the other 3 games just like Mother. D:

I listened to that video with no audio and the song Orgasm Through Her Entrails by Gutted playing.

the twisted part was that it fit, and scared me a little.
