ScrewAttack is in Valentine's Day mode and has made with the lovey-dovey videos. Above is the latest episode of the fairly new The Best EVER! series, and this week's topic is videogame couples. The video focuses on Locke and Celes from Final Fantasy VI, Luigi and Daisy from the Mario universe, and Ryu Hayabusa and Irene Lew from Ninja Gaiden, but I'm sure you all have your own picks.
If there was one pairing that really stands out in my mind, it would be Kafei and Anju from Majora's Mask. The two were engaged until Kafei was turned into a child and his ceremonial wedding mask got stolen. In the game's longest side quest, Link helps to reunite the two, though Kafei remains in his cursed child form. Nevertheless, with only hours before the moon's collision, the couple embrace, ready to greet the end of the world in each other's arms. It's a sad yet extremely powerful moment.
What is your fave game couple? Also, if you aren't into the mushy stuff and would prefer some T&A, ScrewAttack also released this very NSFW video entitled "Top 10 Games That Make You Want to Bone." Tasteful.
Oh man, this one is easy. The only game "romance" with any substance, Ico and Yorda. Seriously, when was the last time you actually cared as much about the girl in the game as your in-game counterpart?
Dante and Nero....because the deranged hentai fan-fiction of DeviantArt is the only thing temporarily satisfying and suppressing future serial rapists and pedophiles from forming.
Isaac Clarke and Nicole from Dead Space 2. A tragic, beautiful love story in the middle of a horror game. It worked so well and felt so much more real than any other relationship I've seen in a game, yet it's a hallucination of Isaac's mind.
Locke and Celes was handled really nicely. But to be completely honest, I have to say Link and Zelda from Skyward Sword was probably my favorite. Link's unconditional dedication to finding her was really touching (sniff, sniff)... I fucking hate vday.

I -love- the Ninja Gaiden and FF6 references. They would probably -both- be in my top 10 or so.
No obvious number 1's come to mind, however. Zelda/Link (all iterations) should probably be part of this. I know a lot of people would disagree, and I think they have good reasons. However, despite its flaws, FFX's romantic elements (i.e. - Tidus and Yuna) worked for me. It made the ending heavier than it certainly would have been otherwise.
I haven't played it.. but maybe Ico? Shadow of the Colossus? Kerrigan and Raynor? Geez, so many options...
Kafei and Anju. Locke And Celes from FF6, Laguna/Squall and Julia/Rinoa duality from FF8, Tidus and Yuna from FFX, Crono and Marle, Ico and Yorda, Wander and Mono
And false loves like Snake and EVA, as well as Tim and Princess from Braid
All my wives in the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games, I mean I had to give them flowers and stuff for months until they realize I am the best guy around.
