What is Bungie Aerospace?

What is Bungie Aerospace? photo

Trademarks! They usually tell us absolutely nothing and give us just a random name for something that may never see the light of day. In the case of Bungie's latest trademark the former is true, the latter probably not. Bungie has trademarked Bungie Aerospace, and while the trademark filing tells us absolutely nothing, this seems to be something big from the company.

It's unclear if Aerospace is a game or something else as the trademark pretty much says it applies to almost every aspect of gaming ever. However, that is pretty standard for any gaming trademark, so it really could be anything. However, if you'll pardon my rampant hypothesizing, since the trademark is called Bungie Aerospace and not simply Aerospace it does seem like this is something other than a game. Companies don't usually put their name before their game's name so we are most likely looking at something different.

What this could be is up in the air. Maybe they're planning on selling a game engine so other companies can use it. Attack of the Fanboy postulates that this could be the engine 343 Studios will be using to make the next Halo game, which as postulations go, is a pretty good one.

Either it's an engine or merchandise crap. Take your pick. I highly highly doubt it's a game with such a crappy name as Aerospace.

I'm willing to bet its an engine. what else would they be working on outside of... more halo, when they're "independent"

I hope it's a Project Natal flight simulator where you lean forward and spread your arms out parallel to the ground pretending you're an airplane and have to shout "vrooooooooooooom!" to go forward.

That's probably just me, though.

I think it will be another OUI (Online user interface), akin to the Bungie social network for Halo games.

Could well be the new name of their online component.

To summarize the answers already in: Bungie's Battle.Net

It might also incorporate some sort of online savegame storage, just like Steam that saves your controller configurations and savegames, no matter which PC you're on.

Maybe it's a some sort of youth program funded by Bungie?

According to Bungie the seventh and final step of their plan for world domination is to build a giant slingshot and fire their enemies into the sun.(Check their site). I belive its something related to this.

Funding research on halo space tech?

I [bet] you belive that.

Since Bungie have no need for their own type of Battle.net (unless they're planning to surprise us all), it is going to be a Bungie owned tech or an offshoot group working on something.

Maybe it's a joke anything. Maybe it's just a diversion/ploy to throw you off. Any major gaming company trademarks anything, the press picks it up and starts to get the jump on things they didn't want to announce yet. Bungie has been known to clown around publicly, so maybe its for fools.

Fifth, the frequent "warrior" plus "shield" characters at the beginning of words in the Phaistos disk could be a kind of religious incantation--perhaps an honorific name of individual gods, as with saints in Christian religious documents.
