I know that Sony and Microsoft say that they won't be talking about next-gen consoles, but a little part of me hopes that they are lying and completely blow us away as their conferences. The rest of me is telling that small part of my brain to stop being so silly and is psyched for Halo 4 and hearing about the Wii U. Not because I will buy it or anything, but because I love hearing about all the yummy new tech that game designers can play with in the coming years.
Some new game that does something new, maybe The lAST gUARDIAN will do but I doubt that'll get a release date. I'm close to thinking it's vapour ware at this point despite the massive investment. I just get the feeling they got so far and found out it just doesn't work in any good way.
I'd like 'The Last of us' to be an openish world game- i hope it's not just Uncharted in a different place, I'd shit for a game which was basically GTA in space, with space combat and landing on planets, exploring planets. I say that every year. I tried to play Evochron mercenary but you can't GET OUT OF YOUR SHIP AND WALK AROUND and it's obscenely complicated trying to land on a planet any time soon. I just keep warping into planets and exploding because I'm impatient.Prey 2 does look good despite how sick I am of FPS.

Jonathan Holmes - During every big event like this that he covers I always come away with a giant smile.
I'm most excited to hear more about Assassin's Creed III, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, and the Wii U. I'd also like to see Sega continue the recent success with Sonic and announce a new game for the consoles(never thought I would say that).
I'd like to see Gabe Newell to appear at Nintendo's press conference and announce that Nintendo and Valve are working together on the Nintendo Network, that all Valve games will be available on the virtual console (and vice versa on Nintendo classic), and that Valve is working on a new Metroid Prime game with a new engine that will be used to make Half-Life 3, which will be coming to consoles as a Wii U exclusive.
That's probably not going to happen, but then again I said the same thing about a new Kid Icarus game.

There's quite a bit I'm anticipating seeing this year. I'm looking forward to seeing what Nintendo have in store, but I'm staying cautiously optimistic. As for games, I can't wait to see more of The Last of Us, maybe more of Bioshock Infinite, and Dishonoured (which is looking cool as fuck). Hopefully some awesome new Vita games get announced too. That system needs all the support it can get.
Hopefully more AC3 gameplay (I want a good look at this new tree freerunning... er treerunning?), and maybe a gameplay trailer of Dishonored. And yes, more Last Guardian please Sony. Perhaps an MGS5 announcement?
I'm with Maurice, something Deus ex related would be amazing, well an update on anything Eidos related will be good, Thief 4 anyone?

I don't want some big AAA experience on the Wii U, nope I just want nintendo to expand on what the Wii offered (minus the shovel ware of course), I may sound like a typical Nintendo fanboy, but what the Wii's exclusives do are the reason I game, gameplay, fun, not spectacle and some big narrative, don't get me wrong, there is definitely room for that type of game, hell some of my favorite games have both of those traits, but more often than not these traits intrude in what is described as the interactive medium. I'm most excited about finally catching a glimpse of Pikmin 3; I've been (impatiently) waiting for that game almost since the moment I finished Pikmin 2 back when in 2004.

Most excited for Nintendo's conference, but that's usually the case. And I'm with Holmes here, Nintendo needs to kick a lot of ass this year and I'm sure they know it. Among other things, I hope they reveal an at least decent online plan, a handful of HD updates of beloved franchises, and at least one surprise on the level of the Metroid: Other M announcement (regardless of your opinion of that finished product, it was a kick-ass reveal). Oh and some exciting new 3DS announcements hopefully.
And if Sony doesn't have playable Last Guardian then they're dead to me.

I want something revolutionary and to feel what I felt playing Mario 64 or Nights into Dreams for the first time.
E3 last year was fucking boring. No suprises, nothing interesting, very few new ips worth mentioning.
What I want out of Nintendo is not something that I'm going to get 50% of the time. Of course they might create something that I didn't know that I wanted before, that happens sometimes but my hopes aren't high. I hope the WiiU can do much more than I suspect, but that's about it.
As a Retro Gamer, what I really want from an E3 are franchises from the 80s and 90s that come back so unique and good that they blow the roof off of the convention center. But that only happens once every 2-3 E3 shows.

Like this time last year, I am most excited for genuine surprises (like Dragon's Dogma last year) as opposed to anything announced clear in advance or is inevitable (like Halo pinball).
Maybe there will be a console based 1-4 player version of Age of Conan or Thug Death starring the reanimated corpse of Tupac Shakur on tour(final boss is a city sized Biggie Smalls?) or even something that comes across as a gender-flipped version of Ratchet and Clank?

Just to clarify, yes, I was implying that I would be interested to see THQ's booth despite their claims that they would have no presence at E3 or Gamescom precisely because they said they wouldn't have any such presence.
