WET to dampen your consoles on September 15 photo

WET kind of stumbled at the starting block when it become one of the victims of the Activision cull following the evil publisher's acquisition of Vivendi. For a while it looked like the game would be stuck forever in limbo until Bethesda snapped up the Stranglehold-esque title. Now WET finally has a release date, and it'll be rocking your consoles on September 15.

"We’ve worked really hard to make WET different from any other action game available," says Patrick Fortier, creative director at developer A2M. "When players experience the game’s unique blend of gunplay, sword combat and acrobatics, they won’t want to put the controller down."

WET has been looking good for a while, but I'm with my colleague Dale North when he says that "looks" is the key word. Hopefully it will play better than Stranglehold, which also looked like a lot of fun but played quite drearily and repetitively. I'm looking forward to finding out if it plays as good as it looks, in any case.

July 31, 2009 (Rockville, MD) - Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, announced today that WETTM will hit North American retail shelves on September 15th for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The game’s highly-stylized mix of action and acrobatics is showcased on the newly revamped web site that can be found at http://wetthegame.com.

“We are extremely excited to bring WET to gamers on September 15th,” said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. “A2M has created an explosive gaming experience and the action is non-stop from start to finish.”

Developed at Artificial Mind and Movement, WET throws players into a heart-pounding, adrenaline-pumping adventure of double crosses and paybacks in which they’ll take on the role of problem fixer, Rubi Malone. Use Rubi’s dual pistols or samurai sword during any acrobatic move as you take on countless enemies in a number of exotic locations around the globe.

“We’ve worked really hard to make WET different from any other action game available”, said Patrick Fortier, Creative Director at A2M. “When players experience the game’s unique blend of gunplay, sword combat and acrobatics, they won’t want to put the controller down.”

On a mission to find the man that left you for dead, you’ll master the controls that will allow you to create the most incredible fight sequences - limited only by your own imagination. Once you are able to chain together a number of moves, including sliding down ladders, running on walls, jumping and flipping, you will be rewarded with auto-lock and slow motion advantages. Featuring the perfect mix of humor and violence, WET is a third-person shooter experience unlike any other.

Clearly lacking the required boobage to support a successful gaming franchise (in the US anyway).

A Tarantino/Rodriguez film inspired game modeled straight off of Kill Bill and Desperados?

I'd hit that. As Br0th3rGr1mm points out, not enough bewbs, but it compensates with ASS.

The fact it doesn't have boobage is a HUGE boost for me in liking this. She's hot without showing cleavage everywhere.
From what I've seen, this game looks like everything I love in Tarantino and Rodriguez films, IN A GAME. I'm pretty sure something about it will be broken (this always happens with games I'm REALLY stoked about, see Alone in the Dark and Prototype), but I'll at least rent it. Rage mode alone looks damn sick.

Sept 15 is 6 days after beatles rock band is released... so I'm thinking my money will already belong to rock band.

They are really not going to change the name, huh? Going to be kind of embarrassing to walk into the nearest game shop and say "I'd like to buy WET pleeez" >_<

FAP.

But I predict someone being ripped in half when the intensity rises.

It looks awesome, but I'd want to get a more substantial preview or maybe even a demo first before I fully commit.

I don't know, from the looks at some of the videos, camera control can be difficult especially in corridors and tight spaces.
