FaithPS2blur This week I sat down and talked to Faith Naked for awhile and threw a bunch of the readers' questions at her. Some of your curveballs I gave her were along these lines: 'Are you a man?' 'Why are you slapping your cock in our faces?' and of course, 'Will you marry me?' Read on and you'll see her dodge them all, and you'll get to know her better as a gamer. My conclusion - she's more or less a LOT like a good portion of our daily readers. Oh yah, keep reading and you'll see more pictures of our Faithful Naked! Fronz: Alright, say goodbye to Fronz as I become the collective consciousness of curious, questionative readers with demanding questions. Let's get down to business... Let's start out with a tricky question, tell us if it's too much for you to handle. Are you REALLY a girl gamer? Like, really really? Faith Naked: Yes, I'm really a girl gamer. Not some anime-obsessed, fat, comic book guy that pretends to be a hot gaming girl to attract attention to himself. Fronz: Ok, now that we have that all settled, will you marry me? :) Faith Naked: Funny. Fronz: Kidding, kidding. 'K let's see here, let's get to the quick five and then we'll get serious. #1: What's your preferable method of getting drunk? Beer, cough medicine, wine, liquor? Give us some brand names so we can all be tools and follow suit. FaithHiddenFace Faith Naked: Honestly, I don't drink any more. I can't handle my booze. I get all pukey after two drinks. But I use to drink Crown Royal and coke. Fronz: Ritzy. Ok, #2: What's the last movie you saw at the movie theatre? How'd you like it? Faith Naked: I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and it was amazing. Johnny Depp makes that movie and that character. Plus I really like Pirates, more than ninjas. Fronz: Agreed, and agreed. Can't wait to see the third movie - I'm obsessed with that series. Faith Naked: Me too. Fronz: Man, pirates vs ninjas would make a great Tuesday debate article... hmm. Faith Naked: Vampires could take on the winner of that. Fronz: I'd be so pissed if they won! Anyways, #3: Since you work at a strip club I'm guessing music is a big part of your life. Do you prefer the music played while you are at work, or video game music? Give us a few bands that you really enjoy listening to no matter what the scenario may be. Faith Naked: Well, I work in a stripclub that plays Romanian Rap music, so no, I hate the music at work. I prefer my music which is rock in any form, good country music and anything else that I think has a good beat. Bands - Three Days Grace, Toby Keith, CCR, and Robbie Williams stand out in my mind right now. Fronz: #4: Favorite ice cream flavor? Faith Naked: Anything with strawberries in it. Throw cheesecake into it, and its even better. Fronz: #5: So what do you think about this Mel Gibson guy. He went from Passion of the Christ to blaming the world's problems on Jews last week, and also calling a lady officer 'sugar tits.' First of all, have you ever met a 'Sugar Tits' at the place you work at? And also, are you a Mel Gibson fan? Has your stance changed or been more solidified after his emabarassing arrest? Faith Naked: Mel is a man's man. He's, what, a 100 years old and he's still hot in my eyes. People are going to have their opinions, especially when they're drunk. So he's a racist ass... Doesn't mean I don't like his movies. As for a Sugar Tits, don't think I've ever met nor called someone that. But I could start. FaithSideShot Fronz: I think I'm gonna make it my new family X-mas card. I'll let you know how they take the joke. Ok, let's swing around the proverbial pole, get off the stage, and start a serious game conversation. Which game console did you lose your gaming virginity to? Faith Naked: Well, I first starting playing games on my Dad's Commodore 64, but my first system was the NES. My mom bought it for me for my birthday along with a subscription to Nintendo power. My Dad kicked in three games as well. Fronz: Remember what games they were? Faith Naked: Oh yeah, I got Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt with the system and Dragon Warrior with the Nintendo Power subscription. My Dad bought me Bubble Bobble, The Legend of Zelda, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's adventures. Fronz: Bubble Bobble! YES! BubBobPic Faith Naked: That was a sweet game, but I never could get passed the last boss. Fronz: The first boss? Did you ever get the crystal ball at like level 99 that took you to 20 more levels and then the 'true' boss? Faith Naked: I got to level 99, and couldn't defeat the boss there. Heck, I didn't even know there were more levels. I wasn't at a hardcore stage then. Fronz: I can't pass up a few side Bubble Bobble questions now that you mentioned it :) It's one of my favorite games ever. What were your favorite items in that game? Also, which bad guy did you hate the most? Faith Naked: God, I played that so long ago. I think I remember the springy things being a pain. I also remember the sequel was horrible. What was up with the kid and the rainbows? Fronz: I have no idea, I never played any of the other games luckily. Faith Naked: Be glad -- it was terrible. It wasn't even the same type of game. Fronz: All I know is that umbrellas kick ass thank to Japanese people. Ok, so what is your favorite genre of games? Why? And your least favorite? Faith Naked: My favorite genre is Roleplaying games... I know its a girlie choice, but I like them. Least favorite is sports games. I really only like Tiger Woods Golf, because its the only one I can play well. Fronz: I also hate the majority of sports games out there. But what do you think about the Mario sports games (Mario Golf, Tennis, etc)? Faith Naked: I think Nintendo needs to stop pimping Mario out so much to any game type they can attach him too. I like Mario games to be in platform or party form only. Fronz: My view is the exact opposite. We get like, one Mario platformer per friggin' console. We want more of Mario so why not take it in other forms? Also, I think the Mario sports games solve alot of the problems that other sports games run into - Mario sports games are always simple and easy to learn and play. How did you like Gamecube's Luigi's Mansion and also Mario Sunshine? Faith Naked: I liked Luigi's Mansion. It was about time Luigi got his own game. The whole ghost thing was neat and it had a good challenge to it. I rented Mario Sunshine and it frustrated me to death. I think I got a headache playing it and took it back. Only Mario game I think I didn't like. Fronz: Yeah, Mario Sunshine had alot going for it, but I don't think it really played out all that well either. Do you have any/alot of gaming friends? Girl gaming friends? What multiplayer games do you like playing? FaithKneelCouch Faith Naked: Any of my friends only dabble in video games, and most of them look at me funny if I talk about games with them. My guy and I played together sometimes, but I don't have any close girl gaming friends. Just the chicks I meet online. I like playing trivia games like Jeopardy, co-op games like Champions of Norrath, and I'll play Tiger Woods golf with other people. I also like online games like Warcraft 2, but I haven't actually played online games in years. I need to get back into it. Fronz: Would you rather play Mario Kart Double Dash with 3 friends or Halo with three others? Also, which Halo did you like better - 1 or 2? Faith Naked: That's a hard pick. I guess I go for the Mario Kart, only because I'd have a better chance at winning. I played the first Halo and it was good, but I really didn't get the whole obsession over it. I liked those little aliens guys that screamed stuff like "He's a maniac." I know I'm probably have a hundred Halo fans screaming that I'm not a real gamer now. Fronz: Why, 'cause you didn't like Halo 1? Fuck that game's multiplayer (Hang Em High kicked ass tho!). I liked Halo 2 alot better, so let the readers hate us both :). Ok, so what upcoming game are you most looking forward to? Faith Naked: Geez, do I have to pick just one? Fronz: YES! I could ask you what your favorite Uwe Boll film is if you would prefer that instead..? :) Faith Naked: I'll say Okami then. The graphics look amazing, and the whole use of the brush is such a neat idea. Fronz: I agree completely. Can't wait for it. Faith Naked: I've been waiting for that game forever. RELEASE IT ALREADY! Fronz: Yeah seriously, When Odama got released a while ago I thought it was finally out 'cause I'm an illiterate idiot, but no, we must wait even longer... Faith Naked: It had an original spring release, but, hey, gotta make the gamers wait, so we'll buy it right away when it does come out. Creating the need is the key to game sales. Fronz: That or hot coffee! So let's hear what your biggest marathon gaming session ever was! How long and what game? Faith Naked: Stopping only for food and bathroom, I would say at least a weekend with Final Fantasy IX. There was a few hours of sleep maybe. Fronz: Who was your favorite character from it? Faith Naked: Amarant. I loved his attitude and claw weapons. Plus it was cute how Eiko teased him. Final Fantasy X was my fav., but IX kept me going for days until I finally finished it. I really had to work at that game too, because the strategy guide was terrible. FF9 Amarant Carmen Sandiego Fronz: Amarant looked sweet! Only beat half the game before I moved on though -- I should play it again. I thought the Black Waltz's were some of the coolest looking FF dudes ever. Also, what do you consider your greatest gaming achievement of all time? (beat Goldeneye on Double 00 agent mode? Annihilate every sidequest in a Final Fantasy game? Clear Ikaruga at all?) Faith Naked: This is going to sound funny, but my greatest gaming achievement was catching Carmen Sandiego. I played 'Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego' so many times in school and never got to finish it. So I ended up buying the game, and finally got to finish it. Weird, I know. Fronz: Hahaha. Faith Naked: What? That game is hard, dude, especially without an encyclopedia. Fronz: No, I agree - I used to play it at my grandpa's and always wound up trying to arrest some dude in a totally different country every time. I'd always give up and play Number Munchers or Wolfenstein 3D. Haha, or that Mario typing game. Faith Naked: I was mad though, I didn't get the version with the included encyclopedia to help and you can't reference the internet during the game either. Fronz: Ok, let's both take a moment of silence for next year's E3................................... Sigh, I still don't feel any better. How do you feel about the news about next year's E3? Feel free to vent. FaithSitting Faith Naked: sheds a tear as a trumpet begins to play a low somber tune in the background I can see the reasoning behind the downsizing. Yes, it costs the companies a lot to put on the displays, and yes, the companies are producing crap demos for the show, because they're under pressure to have some ready by May each year, but this new E3 is still going to suck! Have it in a hotel ballroom, and what the show is going to be a bunch of power point presentations and a chicken buffet. E3 needs to be that place of magical delights, that only the special chosen few (60,000 people that is) get to go to. And now they've ruined it by holding it in several hotel ballrooms, and having it as invite only! DAMN THEM! Oh, E3, you are a beautiful mistress of whom I will never know your sweet embrace. Okay... I'm done. Fronz: Speaking of embrace, readers want to know if you embrace the "girl gamer" status/stereotype, or would you rather be known as simply a "gamer?" There seems to be a divide between those who would rather be anonymous and those who embrace their minority, sometimes pretty vehemently. How do you feel about this digi-feminism, and which camp do you find yourself in, if any? Faith Naked: Hey, I'm a girl and I can't change that. I want people to treat me as a normal gamer, but as long as there are guys who are going to send you Myspace messages like "Hey, you wanna play with my joystick?", my status as a girl gamer will always stand out. I don't believe girls should be so serious about their gaming feminism. Just be a gamer, and stop worrying about what the internet jocks are going to say if you like games like Super Princess Peach instead of Halo, and/or if you wanna deck your blog out in pink. Just be yourself first and a gamer second. Christ, you don't see girls making a big deal about the boob or dick references that guys have in their forums signatures. Isn't that being a guy first and a gamer second? We all let our sex affect our gaming. Honestly I just wanna game. Fronz: Well there are alot of male skeptics as to how legit some girl gamers actually are - especially you, Faith. So taking this subject a little further, help us out - what do you like to see from other girl gamers and what bugs the crap out of you as far as girl gamers' composure and ethics in the real world? Faith Naked: I like to see girls who support each other in the biz. Don't be jealous. When I wrote that Industry list for the top ten hot guys, I had so many girls telling me that it was lowering ourselves as women to a guy level. Who gives a crap? I wanted to have fun with the list and as long as the guys on the list didn't have a problem with it, then why make a big deal about it? So many girl gamer sites put the list down, when they should have been backing me on it. Women need to stop being so catty and start getting along with each other. As for ethics, just don't sleep your way to the top and don't sell out your friends. Everything is fair game. Faith Naked: Sorry -- everything else is fair game Fronz: "I had so many girls telling me that it was lowering ourselves as women to a guy level." - Wow... that must have been a rough week for you. We'll get into that in a little bit - all I have to say for now is 'Bros before hoes!' Faith Naked: Damn Straight! FaithSitting2 Fronz: A few readers also wanted to know if you are intimidated online by any online guy players? As a girl do you ever use voice disguisers on Xbox Live? Girls' voices on Xbox Live are more rare than Needler strategies. Woman voices seem to get more sexual remarks in 5 minutes than most cyber chat rooms have in a year. Does it reallllly suck at times that you can't just game and you have to deal with all the lame questions, such as the ones in this interview so far? Or is the online experience for you with other immatures just mild? Faith Naked: I really only played online games when I was in highschool, but even then the guys really bugged me, especially when I lost. You do feel like you have to impress guys just to be treated fairly in gaming. I would never use a voice disguisers though. I'm proud to be a girl and it just makes me game better when guys act like jerks, because then I really wanna beat them and laugh at them afterwards. Questions don't bug me though, because at least people are making an effort to get know that you're real into games. Guys who just post stupid comments without knowing anything about you are the real jerks. Fronz: It's good to hear you're open to so many questions to help the gaming community bond better in their pasttimes. However, reader KD_Alpha has a question that probably bugs you more than any of the other questions we had on the forums, but it's worth asking. Faith wanted to keep a semi low profile in the past, so why draw so much attention to yourself by appearing on TV? That being said, tell us the high and low points about apearing on Attack of the Show. What's Morgan Webb really like, are they easy to work with? etc, etc. Faith Naked: First off, I was keeping a low profile, because internet stalkers are a bitch and being a girl has its disadvantages in that field. I decided to appear on Attack of the Show, because I realized that if I didn't start showing my real self, that I was never going to go anywhere with my writing, so I used the venue to make my first appearance. Now I can post full pictures of myself and say that yes, I live in St. Catharines, ON Canada. My real name is Tina. Hello internet stalkers! Doing the show was cool. Kevin is a real nice guy, and though I wish I could have been on the real set, the webcam thing was still cool. It took a long time to setup the interview, and the webcam. All for a 2 minute interview. The people at G4 were really nice though, and their producer Tony was great to talk to over the phone. He's sending me some autograph pictures from the G4 staff. Fronz: Awesome. Now for another frustrating question. Reader FunkyJ wants to know why you are, let's see...how did he put it... jumping up and down and wiggling your 'cock' in all of our faces. After appearing on Attack of the Show for just barely enough time for teen viewers to orgasm, you definitely had us all jealous last week with your name travelling the net. Do you see this as Faith's "15 minutes of fame," or do you foresee a greater future ahead for you - have we "ain't seen nuthin yet?" Tell us all about your game industry dreams. :) Faith Naked: I hope this isn't the end for me. I plan to keep writing for Destructoid, and my other sites, and if something happens with it, then great. I would love to turn gaming media into a career. To be the next Morgan (but bigger) or working a magazine like EGM, would be amazing and it is definitely a goal for me, but I'm just taking it all in baby steps. Key is always who you know and how well you treat those around you no matter how big you get. FaithDog Faith Naked: I love this industry and the people in it, and I hope I get to turn into a paycheck one day. Fronz: You and me both, Faith! What are the issues that you feel are currently hampering the industry, if any? What would you like to see be done about those issues? Faith Naked: I think the some developers are cheaping the game experience by creating quick games with no real wow factor to them, just to make a buck on a movie title or tv show. We expect good things for $65 a game. I think they need to stop putting out these crap titles and put some effort to make a good movie game for once. Fronz: So true. What would you like to see going on into the world of gaming 10 years from now? What would you like to see less of? Faith Naked: More true to life graphics. Perhaps a holodeck if they can swing it. I wanna a gaming system that doesn't cost as much as a computer, and I want them to be just about gaming. I don't need a machine to put my photos on, I have a computer for that. And I want to see a better show to blow away E3. Fronz: Well good luck with those hopes, I think Xbox 1080 and PS4 will definitely be somewhat of a subsitution for a computer. Ok, one more question - PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii. Rank them in order of which you want the most to which you want the least. Also, tell us who you think will win the next generation console race, and why. Faith Naked: Well, if money were not object, then PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360, but since it is... then Xbox 360, Wii and PS3. I think Xbox will come out on top because they're cheaper, and have the game titles to back them up. Nintendo could do better this round, if people can enjoy the wii-mote. Sony has to stop with bad ads and hope that demand will win over the high price of the system. Fronz: Definitely. But seriously - will you marry me? Faith Naked: If my man ever screws up, I'll let you know Fronz: Ok, I'll take that much. Alright Faith, thanks again for taking the time to give the readers an interview with you. We look forward to your future articles and, of course, your Destructoid pictures too :). Let us know when the clothes arrive. Till then, happy gaming!!! Faith Naked: Ciao.
