Wondering what's up with the headline? Then check out the video above. The video is about nerds and their passion for rap, called Nerdcore (no not thatNerdcore). It's really hard to believe that they are serious about what they do. Kudos to them if this really takes off. (Spotted on Double Viking)
We got nine videos up for your enjoyment this weekend. Which include a rap battle between Mario and Bowser, a video of Mega Man in Donkey Kongs world, the first Coleco Vision ad, Dr. MmKay giving away Wiis, an anger Halo 2 player, a scary Chibi Robo costume, two more Mega 64 videos and a video of a guy who just can't wait to play the Nintendo Wii.
A short clip from the Super Mario Super Show. This features Bowser and Mario having a rap battle. Cultural stereo types FTW. (Spotted on Game Break)
Ever wondered what it'd be like to play as Mega Man in Donkey Kong? It'd be the worst game ever apparently.
The first Coleco Vision ad. I believe I found this on Digg and for some reason, the submitter was comparing the Coleco to the PS3. Fanboys, FTL.
Dr. Phil gives his audience Nintendo Wiis. He also plays it. **WARNING! RETARDED/ANNOYING DOCTOR IN VIDEO**
This guy says f*ck 303 times while playing Halo 2 among many other expletives.
The Chibi Robo costume. CREEPY! There's also another video of this kid if you go to the YouTube page. (Spotted on Kotaku)
What do you do until you can get a Wii? Why do all of the stuff you'd normally do in the games BUT IN REAL LIFE! (Spotted on Kotaku)
I still have a raging <s>clue</s> hard on for Mega 64. This time, their Splinter Cell ads.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

About the nerdcore thing.. it's pretty cool that these guys are doing what they want to do, but we also must remember that this isn't new! The Beastie Boys, Weird Al, and early Beck, probably more. I'm surprised none of the people in the video paid their due respect to those who opened the nerdcore doors for them.
In addition, they claim this movement in music was created to free their expression, but it seems actually pretty limiting. I'd assume that if you have no 'nerdy' material in your music, you can't be nerdcore, which is really just creating a more limited genre than most that currently exist. Punk already attempted to create this freedom of expression. If you don't believe me, check out the Ultrafuckers. Oh and the Killer Robots, just because they're good.
Soo yeah. I take back what I said about hating. Screw nerdcore! Hurt them nerds!
One thing I had to add. Imagine those wankers on MTV making millions of dollars rapping about stuff they saw on Destructoid. How will you feel then?? HUH??
if i can ever get enough money for a 360 and halo 2, i want to be in the same game as that kid, not to kill him, just to listen, that shit was hilarious.that was funnier than that japanese guy that was scared of moving in resident evil
are there alot of people like that on fps games on 360 o_O?
I never got in to nerdcore and I probably never will. I had a roommate that played MC Hawkin and MC++ and they were good for a couple of laughs but nothing that I would listen to more then a couple of times.
It is kinda ironic that all of the nerdcore rappers looked the part of the nerd. All of them were white, some were mousey looking, some were overweight, and when interviewed their rooms were covered with anime and webcomic posters. There was only one black guy in the entire video and he was the breakdancer. It makes me wonder if they put him in just so we wouldn't think that nerdcore is white people rap.
I wonder what makes Nerdcore different from normal Hip Hop, sure if you look at mainstream Hip Hop there is a big difference concerning topics. But there also guys like MF Doom, who rhymes over gatchaman and marvel cartoons beats, even got chun-li in the intro of his madvillain album. Only difference is that he's not 1 dimensional and speaks on a lot of different topics and that he actually has a flow.
Same goes for almost the entire list of artists that signed to defjux, it wouldn't be hard to label them nerdcore either, yet they are seen as Hip Hop artists. So really that nerdcore thing is nothing new, they gave themself a name to create a hype.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Del the Funky Homosapien is pretty awesome. Listened to him for a while. Listen to Virus - Deltron 3000
