Weekend Destructainment: Code Monkeys edition

Here's the first entire episode of the upcoming series Code Monkeys on G4. It's too early to judge this show harshly, but so far I'm not really impressed. It has it's funny moments (like the Spy Hunter scene) but for the most part, I'm not too thrilled with it yet. The animation for the show however is awesome. I love the 8-bit touch of it. What are your impressions of it? Thanks NamelessTed!

On this edition of Weekend Destructainment, I bring to you a total of 7 videos. First video after the jump, a really odd mash-up between The Lion King and Silent Hill. Then, Random Robot Intermission and a vending machine robot walking a dog. After that, a funny look at the Zelda universe with The Legend of Zelda: A Pain in my Ass.

Next, a video of what happens when you stick your dong into a NES. Then a preview of how videogames will play in the future! Finally, the show ends with the lost Nintendo sex education tape.

Silent Hill meets The Lion King. Blame Orcist for this -- Spotted on GorillaMask
Random Robot Intermission: Vending machine robot fighters! Episode 6 -- Thanks Nodakan! What the f*ck did I just watch?! It's a vending machine robot walking a dog. I love you Japan.
The Legend of Zelda: A Pain in my Ass (Part 1 of 2)
The Legend of Zelda: A Pain in my Ass (Part 2 of 2)
NES Molester. Spotted on Snaileb's insane blog. *WARNING! COCKS! NSFW*

How you will play videogames in the future! Very funny.
The lost Nintendo sex education tape.

I thought that the Code Monkeys thing sucked.

I didn't laugh a single time through the entire 20 minutes.

Code Monkeys has potential, but I think the episodes would work better in 15 minute Adult Swim style blocks instead of 30.

Vending Machine Robots was win. :)

I don't care for this or G4 for that matter. The hosts on G4 are mostly actors trying to seem like gamers and the network is trying too hard to appeal to every type of man, most of the programs they show aren't even game related. I miss Techtv. G4 has become just another Spike.

I coulda swore the voice of the guy with the viking helmet was the guy who does Master Shake. Either way, It wasn't too bad.

Code Monkeys was good, I could see trimming episodes to 15 min ala [as]. I want to see the episode that premiers on G4, I'm assuming this episode was the pilot since it says July 11th is a new episode. That said, it shows potential and I think we need to give it at least half a season to settle in and see what happens. Animation was fantastic.

Saw the Lion King trailer a few days ago, that's some sick editing and a cool take on previews.

Legend of Zelda spoof was funny at times, I think the 2 ft. ladder scene was the best, he did a great job smashing it into tiny pieces in one shot.

NES Molester was hilarious. I was worried by the disclaimer, but cocks and 8-bit cocks are two different things. The pleasure level was the best, doubt I could have concentrated that well!

I've seen the idea for a cerebral game station done before, but the completely motionless guys and the over the top announcer made it funny.

Nintendo sex ed was kinda funny, but the humor was almost pushed and it got old fast.

Code Monkeys wasn't all that funny. The show concept is nice, and I liked the show was keeping score and giving bonuses or noting the "stage" it was on. That was pretty decent, but the comedy was not all that good. But it was from the guy who did Minoriteam, so I expect nothing less than mediocre.

Also, I don't know how CTZ missed this, but it's worth watching. Watch it again, for the first time...

@ acefowl Can't confirm it is for sure, because I can't find a voice cast listing anywhere on the net or G4's site but...

Dana Snyder voices Master Shake, a quick look at his bio shows he did Minoriteam voices and other [as] shows. Adam de la Pena created Minoriteam and some other [as] shows, and also the creator of Code Monkeys.

And since it sounds JUST like Master Shake in the "Creepy Alien" scene when Todd freaks out, I'd says all signs point to Snyder voicing Todd.

Hm, it wasn't bad.. but it wasn't really great either. There were some funny parts but several parts where it fell completely flat. I dunno why G4 is so hell bent on sex jokes and drug references though.

Dana Snyder has got to be the voice of Todd...it's too close sounding to not be him.

Eh. Codemonkeys is about as funny as Minoriteam was, which is to say, not very funny at all. I mean, it's midly humorous, but I'd only watch it if absolutely nothing else was on TV, and I didn't have anything else to do. Maybe.

Codemonkeys had its moments. I liked when the guy falls on the sterotypically videogame dungeon key "ow, i fell on my keys" the dega bong and also that he painted his junk green so that it would be "a sexual serpant, capable of spitting its venom everywhere"

Joystiq reported about Code Monkeys. The guys said that it reminded him of Grandma's Boy and that he didn't like either of them. Grandma's Boy is hilarious so i figured i would check it out. Code Monkeys gets a thumbs up from me. It isn't the best thing ever, but it is just the first episode; it shows plenty of potential. Too bad I don't watch G4, I am going to have to depend on somebody uploading it to stage6 or something.

Code Monkeys was a bit stale. Not terrible, but not really great either. I think that much of the humor was supposed to come from the status display...thing at the top of the screen, 'cause the rest of the jokes fell flat way too often.

Code Monkeys pilot is as good as the Simpson's pilot and the Sout Park pilot, meaning not that good.

But the premise and style of the show are great. If they get better writers and ditch the focus on the douche bag guy with the green penis, it could be a good show.

Remember, when the Simpson started it was mostly about that douche bag Bart, and it eventually became a great show when the focus shifted from him.

It isn't too funny, but I like the old video game look to the show. Hopefully it gets better, there are a lot of shows that suck with their first episode.
