Web site noob.com hints at forthcoming new Mortal Kombat info photo

As early as last year, Midway has gone as far as to admit a new, Unreal Engine 3.0-powered Mortal Kombat title is in the works. While details have been scarce, that soon may be coming to an end. A countdown has appeared on Noob.com, a Web site registered to Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon -- so what's next?

There's not much to go on, other than the fact that the Web site's logo bears the iconic Mortal Kombat logo. Coincidentally, the countdown ties in nicely with Midway's upcoming Gamer's Day, which takes place in Las Vegas on April 17. I've never claimed to be smart, but it does seem like a safe bet that we'll see some information on the next iteration of the Mortal Kombat franchise in the coming month. I'm also going to say that it will be a fighting game -- you heard it here first, folks.

I'll be sure to pass along any updates from Midway's Las Vegas event as soon as I can shake the resulting hangover. Midway might not be able to spell "combat" correctly, but they sure know how to party.

a new MK game that doesnt suck would be great news!! They need to take it back to the roots with the "realistic" looking characters.

Is anyone really interested in playing another Mortal Kombat? I think I stopped at MK4.

I hope the next one is going to pick its game up. The last few MKs have really been lackluster in my eyes. With games like SCIV and SFIV around the corner, a new MK would have to do A LOT to grab my attention away from them.

How has Noob.com NEVER been picked up for use until now?
And is it sad that that's the only part of this story that I find interesting?

Dude, I totally heard the next MK is going to be a stealth-action survival-horror puzzle cart-racer shump. Sorry to burst your bubble.

This is what we really don't need or want, a new Mortal Kombat. Don't they realise that the only reason it became popular to begin with is because it was more bloody then the other games and people only liked it since it was contriversal. The only people whot seem to still buy this crap are people who are still blinded by nostalgia and kids who think it's a good franchise just because it's a popular franchise.

meeeeeeeh. MK has become a parody of the fighting genre.

Ultimate MK3, Shaolin Monks, or GTFO.

Fighting game with the Unreal Engine? Does that happen often?

@mispelt
Yeah, that's where last where they were headed it seems.

I think they should try to turn a game like Heavenly Sword into a Multiplayer fighter. It probably sound stupid but no one AKAIK has done a fighting game with expansive worlds. (and great graphics)

Survival horror games are really my forte, but I do have a passing interest in fighting games. Actually, I have a passing interest in Mortal Kombat games. I'm going to break away from popular opinion here (as usual), and proclaim that I'm always looking forward to new MK games. I enjoy them.
