The salty, salty tears are hilarious.
Easiest way to put it.
COME ON, TELL ME JUST ONE MORE TIME ABOUT THE GAY SEX GRANDAD!
Hell, even a game like Suikoden, which has 108 characters, at least gives you a brief sentence explaining every character's future. I would be perfectly if Mass Effect did something like that, it probably wouldn't even require voice actors or cutscenes.
Two of the three endings leave Shepard dead, one leaves her Alive - while I understand there being 'one' ending for Shepard is shocking given Mass Effect's hook and promise but it is the only ending where you actually complete what you set out to do all those years ago. I see a lot of people claiming this is a justification by fans- no, it's an interpretation and again one I'm inclined to go with.
And let's just get this out of way right here and now: there was no way anyone was really going to be happy with the ending - how could they be? What would you really want to see? I found it incredibly fitting that in the end Shepard has basically become a Legend, that is what happens to good Heroes! They don't go settle down and raise a family or go back to being common soldiers, they pass into Legend.
If it WAS a dream sequence, and things will be explained later on, that's fine.
If there is anything I like about the ME games, it's the eleborate conversations you can have with people. Magical Reaper Boy gives you none of that.
Also, they did nothing with Harbinger, no dialogue, no assumption of any form of control, be they direct or indirect. Just lasers. To the face.
I don't think it should be fixed, but I do know I'm bummed out by a great trilogy ending in sort of weak manner. I would've been happier if I didnt get to choose, but the game made the choice depending on how I played during the game itself. Maybe they shouldn't have shown the fleet strength bar?
I guess I'm just sad it's over.
Since I knew at that point they had DS9ed the ending, that the had X Filed it complete with The Smoking Man just losing it - I just enjoyed the journey and there all the impacts of my choices were felt.
My only issue with the final run toward the end was that Harbinger got a cameo while Kei Lang or whoever totally Darth Mauled/Jango Fetted his way into the plot for no good reason other than to kill Thane in his final hours.
Glad I got to kill him, but no confrontation with Harbinger was just a huge missed opportunity.
As for ending, I favored synthesis. Because geth are cool and I'm not murdering EDI.

i liked Kei lang but Harbringer being ignored was ridiculous we got a journal entry saying he is leading the Reaper attack force on Earth himself and we get nothing.
Having Harbinger being the reaper guarding the beam would have been epic with him giving shepard abuse
I think i read somewhere he has voice files on the disc but can't remember where that deals with a conflict with him
Oke picture this, Luke is on the death star. The only way to destroy the Empire is to destroy the death star. When the death star explodes Vader, the Emperor. and all storm troopers and Empire folks just flat out die. But, the entire solar system the Death star is located will be destroyed. So the entire rebel fleet will die including Han, Lea, Chewie etc who are on Endor. Luke decides to destroy the death star anyway. There's a huge explosion, Luke dies along with everyone else. Then we get a 3 minute epilogue with Han, Lea, Chewie, C3p0 r2 etc. On a jungle planet stranded. They come out of the Millennium Falcon and are smiling looking towards the horizon. Turns out they were already fleeing the battle when the death star got destroyed. Somehow the falcon picked up the whole crew on Endor then proceeded to flee the battle to escape the solar destroying explosion only to finally strand on a unexplored jungle planet in the middle of no where. CUT TO CREDITS WITH FUNKY DAFT PUNK MUSIC.
Kai Leng has actually been a pretty prominent character in the second and third ME tie-in books, so he didn't exactly "Darth Maul" his way into the game. Plus if Thane died in your ME 2 save then the salarian diplo doesn't survive.
I feel that all of the choices that I made throughout the series were reflected throughout the gameplay of ME3 and I did get to talk to all of my characters before the last push to say my goodbyes, so the ending didn't necessarily have to make specific references to those things.
I can certainly understand some of the issues that people have but to completely rewrite the ending... That I just can't get behind. Shepard is a legend and that's how it should stay.
Even if it turns out it is a "false" ending and what we saw was an indoctrination attempt on Shepard, it's still crappy because people are paying $60 (or $80 if they went for the N7 edition) and won't be able to finish and see the "real" ending until BioWare and EA decide we're ready. It'll be even worse if we end up having to pay for the real end.
They mass relays being destroyed makes sense in that they were staging points for invasion and genocide, which even the races if the game often used them for. Genophage, the war on the geth and oh yeah the Batarians trying to drop asteroids on human colonies.
Seems more conflict came of mass relays than peace.
The only part I wanted, was the after party! I had the good ending, and having a little more closure would have been nice. Not sure why everyone is so upset. Obviously the story isn't really over....let Bio ware do it's thing.
Also, if you don't like the game why are you even in the thread? Seem's like jealousy. Not everyone likes the same type of games, music, food, etc. So why take the time out of your day to post something that in the end accomplishes nothing on your own behalf? Just saying....
On the flipside, there are monumental changes in the Galaxy, regardless of which action you take, which was rather unexpected for me and that was an incredible way to move the universe forward, for the opposite reason the more personal side of the endings aren't satisfying: it's all left wide open to millions of possibilities.
I liked the ending, but that's because I didn't do a lot with the romance options, and most of the characters I liked were already dead. Everyone who I thought deserved a proper ending already had one by the time the ending cutscene barrage happened.
1) The ending hinged on ONE single decision at the end of the game and didn't take into account your previous decisions. No dialogue trees with this god child.
2) Where TF did this magical god child come from? And how does destroying organics so they don't create synthetics that will destroy them later make any sense?
3) Harbinger was mentioned but not factored into the game at all
4) Mass relays were destroyed, so that giant united army you brought to Earth is stuck there with not enough resources and no means to gather resources
5) The conflicts you resolved are meaningless. Who cares if you reunited the geth/quarians or krogan/turians. They'll never see each other again
6) All the endings were basically the same - so much for choosing your own destiny
7) How did Joker and your crew manage to escape to another planet if the mass relays were destroyed? Did they abandon you BEFORE the reapers were destroyed? And how is it that the people who got nuked in the laser with you perfectly fine on the ship?
If I had one complaint it's that I'd have liked more of an ending cinematic. It just seemed short to me.
How did they get back to the mass relay in time to even attempt to outrun my color of choice energy blast? The endings are all the same with maybe a 5% variation, where are my drastically diverse endings that bioware talked about? And I find it incredible that every single gaming news outlet but ONE is arrogantly labeling us whiney and entitled.
It's really wrong for us to be angry over the ending of a marvelous trilogy that in the last ten minutes throws everything about the game that made it great out the window and gives us an ending that we are barely in control of and hardly makes sense? Everyone was perfectly okay bitching until they were blue in the face about Duke Nukem forever, but when a fabulous game gets fucked up, oh no no no. You fans are just butthurt!
Well I have this to say to Max Scoville, Tara Long, and any other "journalist" commenting without knowing a damn what they are talking about or even considering the fans point of view: FUCK. OFF. You're pathetic, and amateur.
Here is an article from Gamefront defending the fans:

The whole game tries to build Shepard as a well rounded character taking the agency away from the player and giving it more to the writer, Shepard feels and thinks things I don't feel myself and says thing I would never tell him to say. So they tried to build him up as having all this fear and stress only to do something in the final moments that maybe made sense for the character they were trying to build but not the one I was trying to build.
Also that epilogue was just hokey and weird.
