I'm really loving my Vita. It's a very slick system with great features.
First, a point: contrary to Destructoid's reports, you can charge your Vita while it's on. If you're charging via USB, it for some reason doesn't display the indication that it's charging, but it definitely happens.
I have one gripe so far, and it's that I'm forced to use the touch screen when using the on-screen keyboard. I think it's rubbish (big fingers, and it seems super sensitive) and it's especially frustrating because my PSN password (which is requested for EVERY Store purchase) is deliberately complex. I wish I could use the D-pad/Left stick and the face buttons - the keyboard interface inside the Netflix app, which is different from the Vita's native keyboard interface, allows this. So what gives?
Also, for those of you who haven't discovered it yet, if you press the PS button and the Start button at the same time, you take a screenshot at ALMOST any time - only exception I've encountered is during Remote Play.
Speaking of Remote Play, I was playing Grandia (a PS1 game residing on my PS3) on my Vita while laying in bed, which is in a room separate from the PS3. That is fucking cool.
Well worth the price, ive already bought 4 games for it (more than I have any launch).
Just a great launch and machine all around.
Can't wait to see what the future holds for this system.
My overall experience is pretty good. I think the UI is ugly, but it's smart and works very well. I love the effectiveness of the multitasking, although it could go further. In game soundtracks are great for portable games. Lumines/Wipeout are freaking great.
I downloaded Lumines, Wipeout, and FFT all on my ps3 and transferred them over to the psvita pretty quickly. I've also downloaded Patapon 2, which also works fine. Overall im impressed, no regrets so far. Everything is easy to use.
Also, let's play "Ignore Every Useless Word that comes Out of MidView's Mouth." I think I'll love that game.
Soon after, I bought Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX and Z.H.P.
Needless to say, I'm definitely enjoying this handheld and will most likely spend way more time on it than I have so far on my PS3 and 360 combined. The UI, albeit touch-screen only, is very easy to navigate and it's use is very intuitive.
Biggest gripe so far is that I can't remove some of the 'apps' that it comes with. Looking at you 'Welcome Park'.
PS: And it WAS a delicious burrito.
ui is nice and games i got i like katamari lumines and dynasty warriors.
but but but
signing up for ATT for the free 3g and all that bull shit was a fucking waste of an hour i wish the store has a wifi version i would payed an extra $50 to get a wifi and not have to deal with that long, repetative, stopping restarting lets try again. oh u dont have an account an back to being slow as balls again
but after that was over it was much better
Super Stardust Delta (3€) : Shit just got better and HARDER...even if you only have 2 weapons...
WipEout 2048: barely played it,but looks greeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaat!
Functions: Just fuckin great^^..no issues for now and multitaskin FTW with it's latest FW
Waiting for PS1 games to work and more ...way MORE....
I said "in my experience," as in, I've done this before. I'll let those less jaded and with larger wallets lead the way this time.
it's bigger and heavier than expected, but the screen is really nice.
I've big hands so it's not optimal to reach the buttons/sticks and hold it.
I always thought the backside is "bumpy", but it's "flat". the back-hand touch field sounds intriguing but I've no idea what to do with it.
the menu is BUTT UGLY, menu music horrible boring too (can be switched off). otherwise I'm happy that I found all settings without thinking (don't make me think is always GOOD design)
the form factor is "too big" to simply take it with you in your pocket.
memory cards are TEH TINY. really really neeed to use your fingernails to open the tiny slot cover and insert the card. (cards are EXPENSIVE!)
first game rayman origins OK BABY, grafix thru the roof. nice, good contrast, great color 5 inch loveable. best feature yet.
Uncharted didn't impress me graphically at first glance, but then OH BOY IT'S NICE.
wifi good, SEN shop access was fast and streamlined, dowload speedz very good.
Touch Screen very strange, not as smooth as Apple or Samsung surfaces... it feels "wrong" somehow.
overall first impressions after two days with my Vita... "good but not great".
For the game, i stillllllll play more my 3DS, due to Tales of Abyss. But my vita is my #1 gaming in the bed and in-house.
Hot shot golf got a LOT of love, like BLOB LOVEEEE !!! Lumines too. Raymans is sooo freaking good.
But a lot of these games are "console experience" so you need time to play it. It's not very "quick play during the bus" style.
Maybe i'm too scare to play my Vita in the bus lol. But my 3ds is still the #1 "on the go". It look more robust and easy to carry in your pocket.
BUT I LOOOOOOOOOOVE LISTEN TO MY MUSIC ANYTIME !!!!!!
Love the movie, even if you need to convert it to MP4. ( Handbrake is a nice program ).
Near is nice AND freak. It's fun to see how your area is "gamer". But someone add me, and i was weird to know he is near to me lol. But it's a nice feature.
now the "cons"
WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO USE BUTTON FOR HOME SCREEN !!!. I hate to make my PS vita dirty just for clickin a game...
Game that force the "PS vita touch screen" is not very nice. But some game do it RIGHT ( like FIFA, uncharted sniper mode is nice, Blob ).
Memory card... i got the 32gb and i'm starting to be squeeze already... But i put in like 10 movie and 3gbs of music lol. But still with the price it's not nice...
In resume, i love it to date. My 3ds got more "love" a bit due to some games. But my PS vita got longer gaming sessions. My PS vita is just to precious to use it outside. ( i play it a bit at school, but not much )
2. AT@T signup bugged out and wouldn't let me finish.
3. Pressing the "close" button after step 2 resulted in a black screen and a forced restart.
...Any questions?
I'm scared Dave, will I dream?
However it turns out you cannot transfer games bought from mediago to your vita; I need to wait a month to get home then re download Persona 3
Other than that its okay, hard to enjoy it too much with one game. Playing Uncharted, I dont think it has the capability to make a ps3 sized game as boasted, but its still a good system
tip: To change the panel for your friends list go into settings, PSnetwork, account info. (Im using a pretty nice HotShots Golf panel myself.)
It also helps you stand out from ps3 accounts.
Shots are addictive!!!! I fail at puting on the screen protector but its there with a couple of small bubbles. I love it. Worth the 300. I got the wifi but it was 300 with tax and warrenty. I love the vita. Just wish i had a better memory :( 4gb
1) I own a Vita. I have Lumines, Michael Jackson, Uncharted, Rayman, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma+ - I love it!
2) The "PSP only" part was a clear joke! In particular we wanted to see people's thoughts on the Vita's PSP emulation/transfer process - hence the PSP oriented spin.
