All of the buzz may be surrounding Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV, but 2K Games doesn't want you to forget about Mafia II. The publisher has reminded us about the open-world 1950s gangster title by sending us a small batch of impressive looking screenshots for the title.

Honestly, it's going to take a lot to top what Rockstar are offering with GTA IV, but I suppose visuals like these are a step in the right direction. Mafia II supposedly features an unprecedented amount of interaction for an open-world title, including an option to act "violently" with objects in the environment. Imagine that option with bottles and chairs, and I think you get the picture.

Mafia II is set for a simultaneous release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Hopefully we'll be done trawling around Liberty City by then.

Those screens look really pretty.
I was a fan of the first Mafia, and a bigger fan of the time period that it took place in. Definitely going to check this one out.

Plus the fact that those violent environmental interactions seem interesting as well. I've been waiting for GTA to implement something like this (randomly picking up objects in the street that can be used as weapons), and to my knowledge am surprised why it hasn't been acted upon already.

Mafia is a great game, hopefully they keep the same quality with this one.

I love how real the 20's felt. Can't wait with these graphics, looks like CryEngine 2 Photorealism shader.

The load times were a killer in the first one. Hopefully that's been rectified somewhat.

Looks great. When I bought the first Mafia I got Max Payne 2 for free. When I buy Mafia 2 I want Max Payne 3 for free.

God there were so many bits in the first one I was stuck at for ages. The motor racing section kinda pissed me off but it was a great game overall. This looks awesome.

These graphics greater than GTAIV's. Pretty amazing looking. I loved the first one (PC version, console ports sucked). I hope my PC can run the sequel, or at the very least, that the console versions really do look this good.

Perhaps I'll be interested down the road, but right now I'm kind of meh. That period of time specifically doesn't do well with me in general.

Holy cow, look how beautiful it's looking. I'm more pumped for this than GTA IV.

As long as they make the racing level possible this time, then I'll be very happy.

I hope the console gfx matches PC gfx. If these are achieved on the lowest denominator and not some high octane pc gfx card, than kudos to the deveopment team..
