We've used the 300 joke, but Midway reveals first This Is Vegas screens, trailer

Last week, Midway announced their upcoming open-world next-gen title, This Is Vegas. Jim Sterling made a 300 joke, and brought peace to all men on Earth. Today, Midway drops the first trailer and images from the game, and it's all getting me into a particularly sinful mood. *insert cat growling noise here*

The game is being developed by Surreal Software, the same folks behind the bloody and twisted The Suffering titles, but we don't expect any demons to appear in this game (although if anyone remembers the twist in Activision's True Crime: Streets of LA, nothing will surprise you). Midway are also calling the game a "lifestyle action experience," which leads me to believe a lot of things and people will get shot and/or punched, and a "Hot Coffee" mods will not be necessary.

I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have a chance to play This Is Vegas at Midway's gamer day this April (which is in Las Vegas, of all places), so keep your eyes peeled here for impressions. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the trailer -- full of women, violence, and lights -- and hang tight for the game's Winter release on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

That guy was throwing haymakers like they were going out of style.

Perhaps add in a "Burnout Paradise" type multiplayer? Something where you auto-join games and just step out of a random hotel room to cause some (physical, financial, sexual?) damage.

I've said it before I'll say it again.

I just want to bury a hooker in the desert.

It doesn't even have to be a hooker. It could be a cocktail waitress.

Midway and Surreal, you have officially won my interest. Now don't blow it.

Now if only people realized that the 'this is Sparta" joke makes you look like an unfunny dipshit.

Trailer looks like the wish fulfillment of a twelve year old boy.

However, mention of The Suffering has now guaranteed my interest.

I'm moving to Vegas in two weeks and seeing this only gets me more pumped. Sure the character looks generic and it looks like all you do is go clubbing.... I guess I just wanted to brag about moving..

Hm...my interest is piqued, but we’ll have to see how it turns out. If that’s the only punch animation they have in the game — by that, I mean that your character throws a punch and your opponent flies backwards into the air — then that already takes it down a few pegs.
