If you read Bob's article this morning about Band Fuse: Rock Legends, you could tell that he and I are pretty excited about the game. But what words unfortunately can't do is show you gameplay footage, so check the video to see the game in action. We also talk to Slash -- no big deal -- and interview Steve Gomes, president and CEO of developer Realta.
Expect more Band Fuse: Rock Legends coverage when announcements hit. I, for one, can't wait to see what else these guys have up their sleeves.
I'm guessing the numbers are a reference to which fret to put your finger on?
I'd be interested to try this myself assuming I can just plug one of my own guitars into it and it'd work fine. I'm sick of the whole peripheral experience with guitar/drums/whatever controllers.
Yeah, the numbers are just tabs like you'd find at Ultimate Guitar or any of those sites. And if all goes to plan, it looks like the game will ship with an adapter so you can use your own guitar with the game.
I really don't have any confidence that this will do well. Rock Band 3 did ok with their real guitar, but their strength is their song catalog and the fact that you can play it multiplayer with other real instruments. Powergig was doomed to fail from the beginning, and I feel bad for anyone that actually bought it. I hear that Rocksmith is pretty good, but it's far from a huge success.
Now another game is entering the market... If they want any chance of being successful, they'll need a ton of songs (including ongoing DLC), amazing marketing, and no game-specific hardware.
"Another thing that makes it different is that this game was designed with very very talented people as far as the designers and engineering but everyone involved at touch points in the game is a musician."
The EXACT same thing can be said about Harmonix. The quote reminds me of stuff Bobby Kotick used to say.
Rock Band 3's "Pro Mode" was a joke - i tried it, but it wasn't even on par with what Rocksmith is doing. add to that overpriced fake guitar you had to buy to use this mode that was cancelled after the first shipment(the pro drum set was canned even before it was released as well).
Rock Band 3's Pro Mode for Keytar is pretty awesome, and almost entirely accurate for the notes it displays. I bought RB3 just for the keytar, and it's more than worth it.
The tab number system is hard to get at first. I much prefer the way rock smith simply mirrors the guitar so I dont have to think about it. It also shows where your first and last finger should be makeing it real easy to follow. This just looking at it when its not moving take some time to work out what needs to be played. Its the differance between gamers doing music vs gutairists doing a game. The gutairist are set in there way of here is how its done, and as such they leave in the old tab way of reading music, cause thats how they did it.
@Sofik You're forgetting that there was also the Squier Stratocaster, which was a lot better than the fake guitar. Also, which pro drum set got canned? The Ion drum set was released and was great.
I'm not saying that it was better than Rocksmith, but if you're going to shit on it, at least have the facts straight.

- Ditch the jeans and t-shirt and put a button down on.
- Don't cross/fold your arms when you're interviewing someone.

this is a failure of Pro Mode in Rock Band 3 since it works with 2 "guitars" and both of them were discontinued after the first shipments.
