We're shocked: SCEA trademarks 'Resistance 2'

We're shocked: SCEA trademarks 'Resistance 2' photo
     Sony

Not only was Insomniac's PlayStation 3 first-person shooter Resistance: Fall of Man a pretty good game, but it also sold a few copies. It's silly to think that the folks at Insomniac are sitting on their hands after having finished work on Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

Surfer Girl has already dropped a fair amount of (rumored) information on the sequel to Resistance. Whether or not that information pans out as truth remains to be seen, but here's a solid fact: Sony Computer Entertainment of America filed for trademark of "Resistance 2" on December 18.

Sure, "Resistance 2" could be anything -- a Sony branded toothpaste, for instance. But I think it's safe to assume that it will be an Insomniac Games developed first-person shooter game for the PlayStation 3. If I were calling the shots, I'd release information on this game next month, and I'd do it on the Internet and in one magazine as an exclusive. Just throwing it out there. I'm smart. Just sayin' is all.

Here's hoping the game will have a better color palette than the last one.

See, Resistance is a game I could see Sony getting behind. It was actually good. That's more than I can say for that shitfest Killzone.

DO WANT,

War is nitty gritty stuff, dark and bloody. Not green with purple baddies and sticky nades.

Hate to be objective here, but each Halo has a better metacritic and gameranking score than Resistance, which fell into so many of the genre traps that everyone blames Halo for perpetuating that the I'm surprised the hypocrisy doesn't choke you. Halo's got some lame super space marine, but Resistance has an awesome super soldier that is gritty and real and etc. Fighting aliens? That's so lame, unless they're a ragtag team of disconnected generic bad guy stereotypes. It sucks that next gen games have so little colour but games with colour are also bad for including colour. Alien technology should resemble our own only they possess absurd secondary abilities so vaguely and lazily attributed to science that I'd be better off if they hadn't wasted the effort in trying to seriously rationalize them to match the tone of their game. Is that hateful enough for you? That should tide you over while the rest dote and hate on halo without any contrast.

I did love Resistance though, great game. Just not great enough to warrant so much stepping on Halo in its name.

Well no surprise here.

Second why go on a Halo rant when nobody even brought up Halo to begin with?

From the little I played of the first one, this game was really good. I'm looking forward to #2.

There is something about Resistance that I just didn't like.

The weapons are awesome, the enemies are cool, and the combat is fun, but I just couldn't get into it.

Chances are I'll buy the sequel though. The weapons were really innovative and strategic. Not like most shooters where you grab a gun and never use the guns you grabbed before ever again.

Well, they’d be stupid not to make a sequel, considering the ending.

@ NyghtcrawleR

Exactly what I was thinking. I did a CTRL+F for halo and Robbo the hood is the only one to mention it. Yet he yells at us for hating on it.

Resistance has enough different about it that I don't find it too cliche. The intelligence data really helped add to that. There is also a third party or two (the cloven, and maybe top secret US government guys) so it's not gonna be just you and the Chimera in Resistance 2. Resistance has color, it just not as vibrant as games like Uncharted and Halo.

After not finishing Resistance,Mostly because I had my 360 equipped with CoD 4 right next to me at the time, I wonder, how would Sony Brand Toothpaste taste like? Would it use ground up pieces of Cell processors to clean away the plaque?

Resistence was a shitty, shitty generic game. The only reason it sold any copies is because it was and still is one of the only playable games on the PS3.
