Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Last night, we were treated with the new Zerg intro trailer. Today, Blizzard has released a couple of new videos and pictures showing off the Zerg. Both of the new videos show off the Zerg units obliterating the Terrans. No new Zerg classes are shown, but at least we're seeing the Zerg in a much better quality compared to last night.

Bilzzard has also updated their Web site with new pictures and concept art of the Hydralisk and Mutalisk units. I'm just waiting for the fourth class to be revealed. Oh you know there just has to be a new fourth class if you played that secret mission in the Brood Wars expansion.

Hit the jump for the second new Zerg video.

The Hydralisk attack!

What did you think of the new videos Dtoiders?

Are the Hydralisks dancing the Terrans to death? Or is there some sort of miniscule projectile getting lost in the transfer to gamevideos...

Dr Milkdad: And that's exactly what we want. Else it wouldn't be Stacraft anymore.

Their attack description said needle spines in SC, I was always wondering where the acid globs came from.

I am so NOT excited about this.

...But then again, I never played the original.

Does this comment count as double-blasphemy? Turn me over to the gamer inquisition, pl0z!

But seriously, this looks like nothing new and like it fits more in with some of the first RTS's I played, not the latest ones. When I saw CoH, for example, I was like "Wow, cool!" but when I see this I'm like "Umm, reminds me of Armies of Exigo? WTF?!"

*Shrug* I'm sure most will enjoy it and it'll sell like hot-cakes just because of the name. But I think it looks lame.

PM's --> that way.

well, keep in mind blizzard as always been about taking a current idea and making it 40x better. they dont usually pioneer game design, they perfect it.

What are those big things behind the zerglings? Also, the zerg is probably the epitome of "Strength in Numbers".

I'm a little disappointed with the fact that Hydras throw those spines instead of spiting the green acid of the original Starcraft.

the acid from the original starcraft was supposed to be spines. read the manual. im waiting for a melee attack for the hydras tho. also, 4th race has already been shot down. theyre keeping at 3 and im happy for that.

ArrestedDeveloper:

I never had any nerd cred. I'm probably the least nerdy gamer EVAR, which is kinda' sad...I don't fit in with the crowd. :(

DAMNIT, I WANT TO PROGRAM C++ TOO!

Spykron:

This is true of Blizzard, however I still can't imagine playing it and having a great deal of fun. It looks interesting in only one way to me, and that is that there are so many of the zerg all over the place.

I dunno', I'm really all about new things these days. I dunno' what has spoiled me, but recently, anything that doesn't have at least one "new" gameplay aspect to it doesn't interest me as much.

...I think it was Spore that did it. Damn you, Will Wright.

Don't be too hard on Schmoozle. He is correct in that CoH innovated the rts genre far more than any blizzard game ever has.

But that's not what anyone expects from starcraft 2.
All it needs to do is extend it's engaging story and retain it's deep strategical depth and it will suceed both commercially and as a sucessor to broodwar.
