Watchmen: The End is Nigh lands on Xbox LIVE Arcade this Wednesday photo

While it's no Watchmen iPhone MMO, Xbox LIVE Arcade is getting a Watchmen-based title this week to coincide with the film's theater debut on Friday. Watchmen: The End is Nigh, as it's called, will go for a whopping 1600 Microsoft Points ($20).

Players take the role of either Rorschach or Nite Owl and brawl with up to 20 characters on-screen at once, although 90% of the enemies will likely be the same exact character model with a different colored outfit as per the beat-'em-up standard.

Perhaps I'm not the target audience for The End is Nigh -- I couldn't even finish the graphic novel for God's sake -- but I like my beat-'em-ups to be a little more ... absurd.

Whether that means babies in mechs, anthropomorphic animals, or midgets, I don't really care. But if you're going to have me fighting hundreds of baddies, at least make them more ridiculous than "criminals," please.

Baby in a mech? Somebody has been playing Captain Commando! Good beat em up game by the way, although VERY bloody and gory.

Anyone who likes awesome would like the Watchmen graphic novel.

And this is coming from someone who just recently read it. Amazing stuff and I'm as jaded as they come.

Still, for $20, I would expect better than this. I only paid $15 for Castle Crashers, and even though it took months to make it work correctly, it was still a better investment of money and time for a Brawling title.

Believe me, I'm going to finish it by Friday. And it's not as if I didn't like what I have read (far from it) -- it's just that I am horrible about finishing books, graphic novels, and anything of that nature.

I don't know if this is coming to the PSN, but if it is 20 bucks there as well, I am totally skipping it.

I was thinking about getting this, but $20 is pushing it. Looks like I'll just stick to the trial.

Is Microsoft honestly trying to shift the default XBLA price from 1200 to 1600? Absolutely ridiculous. I was slightly looking forward to this before, but at 1600, they can sod right off.

It is on XBLA for 1600, PSN for $19.99 and Steam (95% sure) for $19.99.

$20 is a good deal on raping and pillaging someone else's work for all it's worth.

Alan Moore was right; he totally saw the whoring out of the Watchmen coming. Everything Watchmen related besides the graphic novel and the movie are dead to me.

Just read the graphic novel over Spring Break. I loved it.

so excited for the movie, regardless of Snyder's edits. Movie will be fantastic.

I think the movie looks ok but it will probably be overabundant with slowmo. I don't have a lot of faith in snyder, he's too clean in his appearence. The geniuses are always desheveled hermits with personality disorders.

800 -> 1200 -> 1600.

Looks like I won't be considering the purchase of ANYTHING anymore unless it's on a weekly sale.
