Quantcast

The new trailer for Lost Planet 2 has, unsurprisingly, found its way from Xbox Live to Youtube and we have, even less surprisingly, decided to repost it for your viewing convenience. Here you'll see all the gameplay details we discussed this morning, including jungle environments, squad-based play and portable cover systems.

It's looking really good already, and it would certainly appear that co-op play is now a necessity. The huge creature shown toward the end looks like it needs more than one person to deal with, so it'll be interesting to see if there's a single-player campaign at all.

Lost Planet 2 is threatening to be quite exciting, so here's hoping we can get our hands on some playtime soon.

That game looks fucking gorgeous. I actually gasped when it turned out to be in-game from the beginning.

So awesome.

You got squad combat in my not-so-space-marine space marine combat!

Three Seater Mechs are a sexy idea.

I feel compelled to really try and finish the first one.

Jungle/Desert is the new Hoth Level. If I see Capcom use another lush jungle setting this year, I'm calling one trick pony.

Also, he moves away from the mic to breath.

It does look quite beautiful. However, my OCD won't let me play this without playing the first one.

It looks like Capcom is trying to compete with Gears of War-type games with this. I have faith in them, even if the first game was sort of meh.

Gears with Mechs and huge bosses? Sure.

Also, the portable stop-and-pop shield looks amazing. I like how they're implying "character classes" with the uniforms and unique equipment.

Also, Capcom has no business having such a huge stable/roster of new and old IPs that are this amazing.

That was amazing, if the co-op element is the main focus, I'm buying this for sure.

No subtitles for the pre- and post-trailer stuff? Kotaku had some version with them in. And why are they using the shittiest mic they have to record those parts?

Anyway, looks good, but I do have one concern. Maybe it's because I didn't play the first game, but how did the planet thaw and grow a lush jungle in only 10 years? That makes no sense at all.

The first one was decent. The gameplay was fun, on foot or in a mech, and some of the akrid bosses and human bases were pretty epic. However, i found the later sections to be either frustrating or stale, so i never finished it. By the looks of that trailer, theyre making the game more interesting; should be worth a rent at the very least.

I had almost forgot about Lost Planet but I'm glad we're getting another one with some of the user complaints addressed. It will be interesting to play as the snow pirates this time, especially in co-op, the snow pirates all working together to take down that boss was amazing.

Holy shit that trailer was epic. Never beat the first one but played the multiplayer forever. I hope this is really good.

Not bad looking. The vid was a little Killzone-ish imo.

@Bart999: How was it Killzone2-ish?

I've loved Lost Planet ever since it came out. Remains one of my all time favorite games, even with it's hideous voice acting, stupid plot and idiotic character design. The game is oodles of fun to play, and that's what matters.

- Giant customizable mechs than can fly/hover
- Epic tundras
- Grappling hook
- Enormous boss battles
- Lots of different giant alien bug fucks with weak-points you could exploit (blowing off their legs, or their tail that they use to attack you)

This has now turned in to my most anticipated title of the year.

Hated the first one, thought it was a great concept but with awful execution. Not excited for this one then, but I'll keep an eye on it...after all Takaguichi did promise to fix mistakes!
