Grand Knights History releases in Japan next week and Marvelous Entertainment has released the above trailer to celebrate Vanillaware's debut on the handheld.
It has me torn. While I'm not a fan of traditional turn-based RPGs, finding them to be monotonous despite often being interested in the plotlines, I have had so many wonderful experiences with Vanillaware titles that I want to give this one a chance. Thankfully, with no release outside of Japan announced, I may never be faced with the decision.

I am REALLY hoping that someone makes the right decision and publishes this over here. I have loved everything Vanillaware has done heretofore and this looks to be no exception. GORgeous visuals and awesome gameplay? Yes please!!
Looks pretty neat...but I'm beginning to grow weary of turn based rpgs. I've reached the point where I can't even be bothered to add some spice to the battles, I'm just doing whatever's going to end the fight faster. Random battles when you want to know what happens next suck.
Hack and slash, however? Far more engaging. I feel that the Jrpg scene should have evolved into more "Kingdom Hearts"-like gameplay at this point instead of being stuck in the 16 bit era of semi-limited play.
Yeah, technically speaking, male genitals have gotten slightly larger on average throughout the millenia as the smaller men were passed over for breeding.
@NeoPlaydohnist: Pretty much. Dragon's Crown has excited me for the Vita more than anything else. For me, they sell systems. A PS2 is a great buy just for Odin Sphere and Grim Grimoire. They really could have done Muramasa for that too and done well I bet.
Just doesn't seem fair is all. Like, would it kill them to include some half-naked dudes to pander to someone other than the typical straight male gamer? Please don't take offense, but you guys have been catered to enough.
Beautiful! I wish more games were hand-drawn 2D. Imagine the trajectory if games had evolved in this direction post-Super Nintendo/Genesis. Rather than lo-res polygons, we got incredible polish and flair in 2D.
I'd love to see Vanillaware do a Metroidvania style game someday.
I want this so bad. It sucks that the west has given up on the PSP because there's so many great upcoming Japanese PSP games coming out that will probably not get localized.

I'm a huge fan of Odin Sphere and GrimGrimoire, so this probably rules too... What console is it for btw?

boobs were mega back then, its historically accurate.
And what about man crotches?
they didn't exist back then.

It's great to live in 2011.
Dat staff...
Definitely on my radar, but only as a download title sos I can play it on my Vita eventually.

I think Odin Sphere is as close to a metroidvania Vanillaware will ever produce...
