The adventure that began with a (not securely) locked case will finally end this weekend, when I attend the FEAR 2 lab on Warner Bros the Armacham Corporation's dime.
For reasons I'm not entirely sure of, they're going to be streaming the whole event via webcam from the official Armacham site. I'll start playing at 1 pm EST this Saturday.
Since I can't imagine anything more boring than watching a bunch of unkempt game bloggers sitting in front of monitors silently playing a first-person shooter, I have to assume Monolith thinks the game is reeeeeally scary. Presumably, myself and the other invitees are expected to jump and shriek at every scripted sequence. Well, I don't buy it. Horror games don't scare me, and I only jumped once during the first FEAR (if you're curious, when you're going down the ladder and your character automatically looks back up and Alma's just standing there staring at you).
So, yeah. Either I'm right and it'll be kinda dull, or I'm wrong and it'll be hilarious, or they're going to be doing a bunch of wacky-ass viral marketing ARG crap where actors pretend like Armacham is hypnotizing us with the game or something.
Which would be fun, in an embarrassing kind of way.
XD
if they don't have something like that planned i'd be very dissapointed.
I was one of the people who absolutely loved the first game on the PC. hope this on is as much fun :D
i swear, the jump-out-of-your-chair moment you mentioned from FEAR is also my scariest game moment. it was a little cheap, but i jumped and shouted when it hit me. well scripted moments like that are the backbone of any good video game scare.
when i read this article, i had to comment and let you know that you weren't alone on the alma-ladder sequence. scary stuff!
good luck

Anyways, I hope the event ends up being fun and not a complete waste of time.
