No dialogue, no cut-scenes, no garbage. This is Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s multi in the (mostly) raw -- the explosions, vehicle mayhem, blood, gore, and flags. Taken from the Panama Canal map, these little slices of asset goodness should give you some mild impressions of EA DICE’s next shooter -- especially if you’ve seen our Ten Minute Taste and preview taken from the BF: BC2PS3-exclusive beta.
Will DICE release trailers of this brand of truthfulness for the SP component? We’re not sure. The emphasis on character and narrative in the last game seems to indicate that we’ll get something along traditional lines, but it would be refreshing to glimpse the game in its natural context. Who knows? All we’re sure of right now is that it’s time to hit the beta again and feed some lead into Defenders.
I reinstalled and started playing Battlefield 2 again, and I seriously cannot understand why I stopped playing that damn game. I CANNOT wait for this game to come out, already got my pre-order paid for, and this is going to push me towards a DAY1 server buy.
I've been playing the BF:BC2 Beta recently, and quite frankly; I really can't imagine going back to MW2 any more. The multiplayer is flat-out amazing, it's been the same map over and over again, but it's been an entirely different match every time I've played.
Will there be co-op? I might have picked CoD:MW2 if there had been co-op. But it only had it for the special op missions which isn't enough for me. For all it's grenade spamming issues that was one of the strongest points of CoD:WaW. The other of course being Zombie Nazi mode.
Release the PC Beta in January please. That would be the best. I started Battlefield with 1943 on the 360, but if this is even half that good it's worth a buy.
Can anyone explain to me what I missed from the first BF:BC? I was really excited for it and picked it up shortly after it released, and played the multiplayer for one day and that's it. For the hell of it, I threw it back in a couple weeks ago, got decently far in the single player. I tried the multiplayer again, and I gave up quickly. I feel like the learning curve was a bit steeper than other games I've played, so maybe I didn't give it a chance? Am I seriously missing out on something?
I'm really enjoying the beta, and like all Battlefield games since 1942 (even Vietnam), I'm sure this game will totally hook me as well.
But, does anyone think the language is a little gratuitous? I have no problem with swearing, as it can add to the mood, but sometimes it gets over the top and starts sounding ridiculous. Killzone 2 is a good example of this. In this game, there's one particular line that's something like "they took that shit down, go set that shit back up again" and it just comes across like a twelve year old being edgy. I dunno, I can't be the only one who thought this.
Wow the gameplay actually looks really solid. I can't wait until March. Plus it also has dedicated servers on all platforms so we won't have to deal with host advantage or nearly as much lag.
I way prefer the Beta of this to the full MW2 game.
Only problems...
1) No prone! WTF I want to lie on my belly!
2) language, no the course language, that's fine, but why when playing as Russian (is it?) are all my instructions in Russians?! - Give me english with an accent!
3) Progression is way way slow, you get the first couple of upgrades nice and quickly, then you're hit with a massive massive gap until the next upgrades, all important stuff like scopes etc, take FOREVER to unlock. - This is the one that makes people stop playing.
4) Nope, that's it. Fucking brilliant game, love the beta, although not quite as much as i loved MAG, it's kinda like MAG but in a line, where MAG is like Multiple BFBC battles in a circle. - If that makes sense.
I will buy, no doubt about it, but i also need to persuade my buddies to put fucking Modern Wankness 2 down and get on the Battlefield! i just hope they tweak the few things i have a problem with.
The comments for these videos are always humorous. "Modern Warfare drools, Battlefield rules." As if the two aren't totally different in every way (really, the only similarity is that they're first person shooters) and can't co-exist.
I'm looking forward to this game, but these comments are just nonsense.
you can go to options to change the russian dialogue into english with a russian accent.
at the beginning of the beta there were rumors that it would last 100 days; but the beta is over on the 21st of this month.
my only problem with the frostbyte engine is the hit detection on incoming bullets and some bullets not being counted due to bullet speed; this effectively makes it so you cant sneak up on 3 or more people and drop them with 1 clip.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
also im so tired of these google ads. just put them at the end of the video. cause no one cares anyway.

Anyone know when the beta ends?

Hadn't looked in the menu's enough to figure that language one out, great!

Thanks!
