after finishing Ninja Gaiden 3 the cinematic/graphics are awesome but there's that Itagaki's flare that's missing.

At this point I think it's mostly tradition, I like it, sure it's not realistic based on her type of clothing, but the silly-factor makes it very much enjoyable. And that's what counts.

Environment interactivity has always been one of the key features of DOA. In fact knowing the stages and watching your placement is as vital to high-level DOA play as knowing combos, being able to counter on reaction and memorising frame advantages. DOA was the first (3D) beat 'em up to really push this idea. That and the sheer pace of the game have always been its stand-out mechanics as a competitive fighter. This has always been one of the reasons it's been slow to catch on as a competitive title, despite the much more balanced roster and faster and more technical pace of its gameplay the environment factor throws off damn near every traditional fighting game fan who grew up on Street Fighter and Rival Schools and whatever else. Especially in America, it seems. Throughout the EU it's got a much bigger serious competitive scene and DOA's pretty much the biggest 3D competitive beat 'em up through most of Asia (of course, it's still way behind any 2D fighter there).
Anyway, those features were present in the previous games. DOA4 had lions, DOA5 has tigers, whatever. DOA6 will probably have tortoiseshells.
The main story here is Zack and Lei Fang looking great, I'm loving the subtle tweaks to the art style. Not so wild about their costumes, but there will always be alternatives. Shame the video doesn't show off anything about the gameplay we didn't already know.

I hate the "no Itagaki no buy" complaints. Team Ninja is fine without him. NG3 got shafted in reviews for all the wrong reasons. I'd swear up and down that a lot of reviewers didn't even play it. They all just regurgitated the same review written by some putz who has been crying about Team Ninja since NGS2 hit the PS3.
I can agree it was only a 6 or a 7 score game, but only because it was basically just the same old Ninja Gaiden, and it looks a little plain against the likes of God of War, Dante's Inferno, and Castlevania LOS.

Yes, DOA4's random stage things hitting you was stupid because well... it was RANDOM. (although in the same logic, Clean Hits in SC5 are equally as stupid as well as the ENTIRE GAMEPLAY CONCEPT of Tira and Dampierre) However, in DOA5, these things do not appear to be completely random anymore. We saw in Hot Zone how you have to hit your opponent into a specific spot to trigger the event of missles raining down on them. In The Show, the tigers do not seem to jump out at random but rather at a certain rhythm. And there also seems to be a warning before it happens. (SEEMS being a keyword, we'll know for sure once the game is in our hands) This is actually an awesome idea because it allows you to WORK IT INTO YOUR GAMEPLAY. The stage itself becomes a new improv tool that you can work into your arsenal beyond the usual simple predictable wallsplats that we've already seen again and again and again in every game.
Why is it that whenever a hardcore fighter introduces a new idea it's cool and innovative, but when a casual fighter like DOA4 or Smash does it it's "gimmicky". I want to honestly think for a second about when VF5R introduced stages that change each round, did you think it was gimmicky or cool? Now if DOA5 had done the same thing, would still think the same way? In the truest sense, ALL NEW IDEAS ARE GIMMICKY. ANY new idea in a game is something that is supposed a main selling point, (because it's offering something that other games aren't offering) whether it's introduction of 8-Way-Run in SC or getting run over by tigers in DOA5. Developers put new ideas in games for the purpose of making them sell better, which makes them all gimmicks in that sense.
I applaud DOA for daring to mix things up. There's nothing wrong with trying something new as long as you have the common sense and talent to make sure it's properly implemented among everything else that already exists in the game. And DOA5 is looking pretty good in that aspect. It's always a good thing when a game can do one more to separate it from the rest of its peers. Lack of new things is what caused the fighting genre to nearly die last decade. Remember, SF3:3S was the hit it was among the hardcore not because it was a SF game, but because of the NEW things it added. ("What? A defense option that allows you to ignore the downside of defending?" That should just as gimmicky as anything DOA's done, but it isn't. Is it really that much better because it's a gimmick for hardcore players instead of casual players?)
Anyway, I've playing a lot of hardcore fighters like VF, Tekken, and SC for like 15 years, and even I approve of the DOA series and its daring adventures into uncharted territory for fighters. People tend to act like that the big boobs somehow means that good gameplay can't exist in it. Or that the game "focuses on hot girls" even though the game has always had DOUBLE the amount of men since the beginning. (I also love girl gamers who cry about how it sexualizes women while ignoring the fact that nearly every male in the game has at least one shirtless costume) Elists hardcore fighting game players act like they're too good be distracted by big boos/etc, when the irony is that THEY'RE the ones who can't look past these aesthetics to see the gameplay. DOA has always had a competent fighting engine that offers enough choices that it is genuinely competition-viable. (but no one would ever know cause they pass the game up on name and notoriety alone) And if it adds attractive characters on top of that, well... what the hell is wrong with that?

...DOA 5 iz gonna be the best fighting game of 2012 handz down...everything i love about DOA haz been amplified 3 fold...they had me @ hyper chain comboz...i hope players have the ability to go into the hyper combo from counterz...so yeah...the fighting genre needz az much innovation az it can get...itz about getting the most outta the game engine right?
