Capcom has released a sexy new trailer for Lost Planet 2, heralding the arrival of Marcus and Dom from Gears of War. The musclebound meatheads of Epic's overtly macho shooter will be playable characters in the upcoming sequel, and this is a brief taste of what to expect.
What do you think about Gears of War and Lost Planet teaming up? It's certainly odd to see the characters invading Lost Planet, but it's bound to result in a tidy little sales boost, so the pairing seems very sensible from a business perspective. Like it or not, they're hear to stay. I just wouldn't fancy Marcus' chances of getting a chainsaw kill on some of those aliens.

Meet the rest of the team
If they are having a "big" role in the game, at least some kind of interaction or a dialogue, which it seems like they will. I wonder how things will be going for the PS3 version, will they just cut them out, altering the story? Or will they be replaced with the most suiting Playstation mascot? Ratchet in Lost Planet 2, hmm.
I hate to be the first douche to say this, but it wouldn't take much storytelling to explain that the two universes are actually the same (not that I think this is what its about).
A jolt of Gears manliness couldn't hurt the game, although I agree that seeing Marcus/Dom without a Lancer is like seeing Nathan Drake with his shirt tucked in. Shit just ain't right.
On that note, I absolutely hated the first Lost Planet, but this one looks like it's going to be pretty fun...
They probably wont even be in the story mode. Itll just be some sort of an extra bonus for online players. They just made this trailer for promotional purposes
I'm not sure the universe is the same between the games.
Forgive me whilst I pop my gears geeky glasses on......
As we all know the locusts emerge and destroy most of mankind in the gears franchise. If markus and Dom came from a world with the tech to travel to the lost planet...erm....planet then the whole population of sera would have fled on emergence day.
Geek glasses are off now.
As said earlier this is probably a move to shift more units and to get more fans from each franchise aware of the other.
Anyone else think this is stupid as fuck? I was planning on getting this for the 360 for slightly better online, but I'm very strongly considering switching to the PS3 version now. I'd really rather not have all the GoW kiddies running around pretending their the hurrdurr super-badass marcus pheonix.
We could assume that Sera was in fact one of several branch colonies from earth, which as it ended up, was previously occupied, similar to the colonization efforts in Lost Planet. It looks like in both games something befell the homeworld and they were reaching outward. They are many years in the future, and considering we have already achieved space travel, I'd bet the main limitation of it would be finding hospitable worlds, which was what part of the plot to Lost Planet focused on. GASP. It fits!
For the record, I think this amounts to no more than the character model for Frank West having shown up in the extended content for the original Lost Planet. I seriously doubt there is ANY story crossover.
TheDirtyHobo, you expect people to believe you're seriously considering switching your preferred platform for the game because of extra content? You must have hated Arkham Asylum on the PS3.
@ Vigor
It's probably going to be the Helghast. Those Gears guys seemed dressed with that "heavy" looking clothing, which the helghast also seem to be dressed in. The styles woulderhe better than drake
And then, as the smoke clears from background, a shadowy figure comes into view; Pheonix glances behind him then turns for a better view, grunting to himself...
Yeah I have to admit, I like this. Both game tread the same kind of lines in their stories of terraforming and planetary colonisation. Both have you fighting against enemies that naturally inhabit those same worlds. Would love it if a Capcom x Epic game was born out of this.
Nothing wrong with some crazy, east to west to east love going on. Mutual appreciation of each others products is what we should see more of in the industry this way. Cliffy loved RE4 and created Gears out of that love, Takeuchi and co are paying back such love nicely. I feel fuzzy and warm inside. I hope Capcom learn a bit about making the third person controls and animations better too.
Now if we could only get Polyphony to come out and say they love some Forza, the same way Turn 10 loved GT over the years, we could all feel happier as gamers.
I don't expect people to believe anything I say, I'm just stating an opinion. I didn't buy GoW2 because I absolutely hate the online community for the first game. I just went to a friend's house and played through co-op, since it's a fairly solid shooter and I like it.
All things held equal, why would I buy a version of a game with a cheap gimmick oriented at drawing in people from a community I despise, when I could just as easily have a 'vanilla' version without those drawbacks? What's the point of a marginally more reliable or stable online system for a game when the community is worse?
And for the record, I got Arkham Asylum for the 360, yes. I didn't have a PS3 at the time.
I am going to call it now.......... Capcom vs Microsoft will be coming......Seems a little likely. Maybe even Capcom vs Sony or Capcom vs Nintendo.... Just think about....You know you all would wet your pants if any ONE of those were announced.
Pad controllers must be redesigned with a button named "M&D" so when you're in trouble in any possible game, the fancy couple appears to raise some hell xD
I liked that video, it's funny how some things make people act like old Telegraph readers (a stuffy English paper)
It's also funny that in a game with mech suits and aliens people are complaining about things being stupid, I love how the mere mention of GoW makes some people act like morons

I wonder what the PS3 gets...
You spelt here wrong in "hear to stay"
I do like cross promos, but this one? No thanks.
As different the franchises are, it wouldn't be hard to believe they are in the same "universe", I mean bot got humans and aliens. What's more?
lol...still wont compared with marcus fenix...
god!

*borrows the geek-glasses in question*

It's not like I had any intention of playing this, but if you include characters from gears in a game, try to include the cool, likeable one.
Probably, but it will feature Nathan Drake without his college tuck, and Nathan Hale in civilian clothes.
I don't know why I think that's cool, but can't stop laughing at it.
"Kill it...FROM THE INSIDE!"

No.
They do fight A GIANT WORM after all.
Was actually pretty damn cool.
Ice pirate #2: Because they are from Sera. Don't stare. It isn't nice.
Ice pirate #1: Oh. From Sera huh? Well let's hope they didn't do something STUPID like drop Jacinto.
Ice pirate #1: Ummm.
Hope this doesn't look obsessive but they are quite a ways apart in content and universes.

I play gears 2 online all the time. The community is generally fine, with the occasional tit, but what online game doesn't have tits?
Nice to know I'm despised - I like to think I work hard for that shit.
