why are people acting like this game is only worth it if you get an amazing prize when you get 1 million coins...?
you are a fool if you slaved to reach the million
the reason they put the million goal was so you can have something to go back to... weeks after you finished the game...
not so u can play for 3 days straight, get the million, then forget about the game
yes because nintendo/mario fans AWLAYS play mario games to see what reward they get after 100% completion...
what anidiot xD haha
I mean, if it was a new game mode or new stages, people would complain that they had to grind for coins just to play all the game had to offer, and they'd be right to do so.
Is a new title screen a really lame reward? Yeah.
Is there any reward that would've have been a good design choice? I'm not so sure.
This ... this is all that the collecting and gold bullshit amounted to? Now, don't get me wrong. The game seems fun from what I've gathered. More of the New Super Mario Bros. stuff is fine and all. I see the entire game as just an expensive expansion. But..
This shit is more than just a fucking tad disappointing. Where's my Gold World? =[
"I must stress that New Super Mario Bros. 2 is still FUN, and well worth obtaining. All the pieces are in place for a SOLID Mario experience. Level design is welcoming enough to new players while providing a few tricky challenges to veterans, and the optional content provides stiffer resistance overall. The platforming is as EXPERTLY CRAFTED as it's always been, featuring SKILLED LEVEL DESIGN"
"New Super Mario Bros. 2 is good. It was always going to be good, because Nintendo makes good games. That was never in doubt"
no but eff all that because crappy reward
No. Games can be inspiring, or improve our skills, prepare us for certain situations in real life.
Then again, maybe not.
i do agree they should have let us spend coins on buying things ingame
like say 3d minigames (like the ds)
buy a 2 player battle mode (like the ds) and buy extra battle stages
maybe even buy old sountracks from past mario games to play instead of the chicken music (like Captain of the Zanarkand Abes said)
huge missed opportunity.
but this million coin mark was just so when you finish the game, weeks later youre bored, and you think, "hey im gonna play for a bit and collect a couple thousand more coins"
not so you can rush to get the million then forget about the game
Instead of making the coins feel semi useful, they instead turned it into a leaderboard that judges nothing more than how much time you have to play.
The core game looks good, which is what matters, even if I am utterly sick of the NSMB aesthetic and music. I'll get it, but not right away.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDD RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unless you invoke exact words, then this did exactly as advertised. It's NOT a star (it's a title screen) and it IS something special (it's a new title screen).
You beat ME3 you get to pick on of three colors. You beat Skyrim and the game keeps on going like nothing happened. You complete a Mario game and the princess is glad you saved her and that's about it, which is par for course.
You can tell me you expected something better, but you don't know what that something better is or would be or how to make it satisfying. So drop the pretentious righteous indignation, kids. No one cares.
Seriously though, a change in title screen is usually the reward Nintendo gives. I remember getting that for several Mario Kart games. However, this was the first time I saw the game in action, from the start of a level to the end. Is this it? REALLY? That could be on the SNES, let alone DS.
