Warriors Orochi Z coming to PlayStation 3, sort of disappoints me photo

When I heard that a Warriors Orochi game was coming to the PS3, I was quite excited. Finally, a current-gen iteration of the biggest and most interesting Warriors game Koei has ever made. However, the disappointing news is that Warriors Orochi Z is not a brand new Orochi title, it's merely the first Warriors Orochi and its sequel glued together.

One new playable character is confirmed, along with another non-playable one. In addition, you will be able to choose your own characters for the storyline modes and not be limited to a select few generals. There is also the promise of "many more stages."

This will probably sell like crazy in Japan, as all Warriors games do, but I must admit that this saddens me. I want to play an Orochi game that actually takes advantage of the PS3's hardware, not just takes advantage of Japanese consumers.

too bad its not a fully new game... lots of people will already have played one of the 2 included games on the other console...

but then again, we shouldn't complain about more games going to PS3, at least PS3-owners will only have to get 1 game iso 2 :-)

I didnt like dynasty Warriors 6, not because the type of game is bad but because enemies do nothing to threaten you. Might of just been the demo but they didn't even flinch to attack me lol.

Well this seems somewhat bizarre to me, do they actually plan to merge them into one game then? While Warriors Orochi 2 was mostly an expansion pack, the gameplay was actually rebalanced in it, with the higher difficulties not being quite as impossible as they were in WO1. There were some nice tweaks like being able to change characters while on horseback and the horses themselves moved MUCH faster than in WO1.

I just couldn't get into it on PS2 though, it was hard to go back after playing WO1 on PC. Even though it wasn't "modernized", just having higher resolution textures, anti-aliasing, and endless draw distances did wonders for the game. So if this looks as good as the PC port of WO1, I really don't mind... that is if I had a PS3 anyways.

My guess would be that they wait until Samurai Warriors 3 is properly released on Wii before hashing out another Warriors Orochi game. Since we haven't seen much of anything on SW3 yet, that may be a while. Hopefully they develop the two titles together. However, considering Dynasty Warriors 6 was pushed back, I wouldn't expect a WO3 for at least a year.

I hope I'm wrong. :P

I never played any of the Orochi games and I'm glad that they are doing this. Kinda like Lego Star Wars the complete saga only not so lego-y

They'll make money where they can. Something valid will come out in the future.
