Warner Bros launch I Am Legend metagame inside Second Life: So, vampire furries?

12:02 PM on 10.12.2007

Here's the situation: Warner Bros. have recently created a film with Will "Childsafe Negro" Smith based on the 1954 Richard Matheson novel I Am Legend. His novel relates a story of a world in which humanity has been all but wiped out, and the last man alive has to deal with the threat of insanity, isolation, and deadly, deadly vampires. Accordingly the Will "Fresh Prince of Wonderbread" Smith film will explore these same themes only transplanting our hero from Los Angeles to New York City -- but knowing Hollywood we're rather fortunate they haven't changed the vampires into cyborgs or metaphors for the Republican party.

Back to the important part though. Last night I received some info on the Warner's interesting attempt on marketing the flick: they've created a game based on the film within the Second Life universe in order to promote the whole thing. While it looks like a low-definition Left 4 Dead -- without the crap title -- the gameplay experience is sure to have that most essential of all Second Life features: sexually deviant post-teens.

If you opt to go hunting vampires in this new advermetagame, please know that they're probably being controlled by some young man in Ohio wearing his mother's underwear and a Burgess Meredith mask. He may be able to eat lightning, but the only thing he's crapping is the results of a childhood filled with too-long hugs from dad, and rubber hoses to the spine.

Oh, and have a look at some of the media they sent over in the clip above and the gallery below.

Hitman: Agent 47 looks anything but stealthy

The tone of this trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 matches my playstyle for the game series, which is to go in quietly only to screw up repeatedly and end up having to trade bullets with everyone. While I could have done without ...more

Rob Riggle plays a decent Frank West, but Dead Rising: Watchtower looks bad

We were promised a direct-to-internet Dead Rising movie, and that's exactly what we're getting. Even with my expectations set accordingly, I'm coming off this trailer for Dead Rising: Watchtower feeling disappointed. Rob Rig...more

Congrats on the Academy Award, SpeedTree

Do you ever take a moment to stop and admire the scenery? Too often are we focused on mindlessly pushing forward to the next objective to notice the little details. Foliage, man. Take it in. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts...more
