It's cold as hell in my office. I'm under a blanket, and I have my feet tucked under my dog. I'm chilled straight through and my nose is running.

But things look quite the opposite in these new Tropico 4 Gold Edition screenshots. The upcoming city maker for Xbox 360 and PC shows an island paradise with tropical trees, sun-drenched mountains, and dancing girls. I feel warmer just thinking about it.

But then I think about the game's Cold War setting. Cold. Cold. And I'm cold again.

Tropico 4 Gold Edition is the standard game and the Modern Times expansion, all in one handy pack. It will be available in stores on November 13.

Review: Tropico 4

Hola El Presidente! I see you have returned to rule Tropico once more, after having done so in Tropico 3 and maybe even after extending your rule in Tropico 3: Absolute Power. Because life as El Presidente is hard enough, you will be happy to know that the island nation will take more or less the exact same skills to govern as it did before. Or perhaps the similarity will disappoint you.more

I'm totally gonna murder some amber waves of grain

Videogames are largely about power fantasies that real life simply can't provide. That's why 98 percent of games (rough estimate) are centered around a man with a gun that knows no bounds to save the country that he loves. P...more
