Quantcast

The above video is a Japanese trailer for the upcoming Nintendo DS game Wario: Master of Disguise. Usually I don't get excited about platforming games, but this one seems to imitate one of my all-time favorite Genesis titles: Kid Chameleon, a game that is LONG overdue for a new-gen upgrade.

Wario: Master of Disguise seems to combine some really clever stylus use with the "don different costumes to solves puzzles and meet hot chicks" gameplay mechanic invented in KC. We're just hoping the stylus sections don't seem tacked on like those found in New Super Mario Bros. or Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times; if you can't combine the stylus with the regular flow of gameplay, just leave it out!

Man, that almost looked like a Castlevania game. When's this come out in the US?

Wario is one of the best things Nintendo has going for it. I just beat Warioware: Smooth Moves in about 3 hours, and I can't see myself spending anything less than the next seven years of my life playing that game DAILY.

Holy fucking shit, I love Wario.

Holy crap I totally didn't make that connection! Kid Chameleon was one of the best games of all time, purely for its insane difficulty and replayability (probably not a word :P)

... Now I want KC on the Wii Virtual Console... You listening Nintendo??

*waits*

Ahhh! I hate drawing on the screen when I have to move around at the same time. It's just like in Castlevania when you play as the sisters ...

The countless hours spent playing Kid Chameleon and yet I never beat it, got so friggin hard and used to piss me off when I would get the skull and then run into some friggin lava! GAH

I never got to play Kid Chameleon enough. My friend had the Genesis and that game. I sure would like to play it again.

?? When do you have to use the stylus in New Super Mario Bros? The only thing I can think of is using it for the spare item, in which case you can just use your thumb, no crazy seal drawing like in Castlevania.
